New-gen Porsche Cayenne to be launched in India on 17 October

New-gen Porsche Cayenne to be launched in India on 17 October

-    The Cayenne is the highest selling Porsche in the country.

-    The new-gen Cayenne was revealed last year.

-    Might be available in Turbo and Turbo S guise.

-    Expected pricing is between Rs 1.75 and 2.35 crores.

Porsche brought in the new-gen Cayenne to the Indian shores in June this year and the German carmaker started taking bookings for its flagship SUV even before that. We have been waiting for its official launch in the country ever since and now Porsche has confirmed that it will happen on 17 October.

The second-gen Cayenne was revealed in August last year and made its public debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Developed ground-up, the Cayenne moved to the new MLB Evo platform and carries an evolutionary design, updated interiors and newer engine options. Porsche’s first SUV and the highest selling model also gets a rear-wheel steering.

Appearance wise, it takes its design cues from its younger sibling, the Macan, and the new Panamera. The headlamps now have the four-point LED signature. The rear has discarded the bulbous tail lights of the outgoing car and adopted a new sleek LED taillight design which runs across the rear. Overall, the new Cayenne looks sleeker, sportier, better proportioned and more handsome as compared to the outgoing car.

The cabin is fresh with a lot of Panamera influence. The centre console has a large 12.3-inches infotainment touchscreen. The cabin comes loaded with all the connected features Porsche has on offer. There are plenty of driving aids as well. This includes 710 watts Bose sound system, 18-way adjustable seats, leather upholstery and all other luxuries expected from the sports SUV.

In India, Porsche will launch the Cayenne in the Turbo and Turbo S guise. This variant comes powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 550bhp and 770Nm. It is capable of hitting 100kmph in just 4.1 seconds and go all the way to a top speed of 286kmph. A standard and plug-in hybrid variant are also expected to join the line-up but that will be at a later date.

When launched here, the new Cayenne will continue to remain in the fray against the likes of Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Range Rover Sport and the VW Touareg apart from the newcomer Lamborghini Urus.

Expected pricing for the 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo is as follows –

Porsche Cayenne Turbo - Rs 1.75 crores

Porsche Cayenne Turbo S - Rs 2.35 crores
