When we drove the Porsche Macan especially in the racy Turbo guise, we were zapped by how this SUV was able to feel more like a sportscar than a jacked up crossover. It feels...

Porsche Macan Review
For years, the Porsche Cayenne has underlined its position as a truly sporty choice among full-size luxury SUVS. Riding on the success of the Cayenne, Porsche has built another SUV, the Macan. It is slightly smaller than the Cayenne but sportier to drive.
The Porsche Macan has a sharp design with sleeker lines and purposefully placed light refracting edges. The front-end design including the headlights, the grille, the bonnet and the front wings have been restyled to achieve the sharp look. The new layout of the rear lights creates a three-dimensional effect with the brake lights designed in four elements. The licence plate, boot handle and lights are now integrated more elegantly into the boot lid.
Inside, much of the layout has been shaped around the driver, with a new multifunction sport steering wheel with shift paddles as standard. The same wheel is also featured in the 918 Spyder hybrid super car. According to Porsche, the rear seats are now even more comfortable, with optional seat ventilation being available for the first time.
The Macan boasts of standard features like air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Entry and Drive, four-zone auto climate control and panorama sunroof. Buyers can additionally specify their vehicles with options like soft-close doors, surround camera as well as the Sport Chrono package which now incorporates the Performance Start function.
The 3.0-litre, V6 engine in the Macan Diesel produces 245hp and 550Nm of torque. Zero to 100kmph comes up in about seven seconds. The new 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine, meanwhile, develops 400bhp and 550Nm of torque. The latter can be found in the Macan Turbo and with its standard 8-speed Tiptronic S transmission, zero to 100kmph can be achieved in just 5.5 seconds.
The Macan is currently available at all Porsche showrooms in India and the sporty luxury SUV competes with the likes of the Range Rover Sport, BMW X5 M and its own sibling, the Cayenne.
