Five reasons to buy the MG Hector

    Content

The MG Hector has been finally launched in India. The choices on how you want your Hector are as diverse as MG’s heritage itself but at the same time, there is so much technology on offer that you could even say that the Hector is the future of cars in India!

The Hector has been a super hit with the Indian buyers and so much so that MG has had to close bookings for a while to make up the orders, a most fortunate problem. That tells you something doesn’t it? Well if you are willing to wait (and we can assure you it is worth your time) and want to buy a Hector here then are five reasons why you should look at the SUV as the next choice for your new set of wheels.

    1. India's first 48-volt hybrid technology-enabled SUV
The MG Hector is the first car, not only in its segment but also in the market, to be featured with a 48-volt hybrid system. This first in segment technology is available with the 1.5L turbocharged petrol motor. The benefit of this system is that you get 12 per cent of gains in terms of fuel economy and an 11 per cent reduction in emissions. The starter generator provides 20Nm of additional torque at start-up for better performance as well as acceleration gains in stop-go traffic. There are three key functions – engine auto start-stop, regenerative braking and e-boost.

    2. Stunning looks
The MG Hector’s looks are the best of what Britain has to offer. It’s a marriage of the traditional SUV (that originated in the UK!) and modern design elements that bring the SUV into the age of technology.
The face is dominated by the sharp LEDs that sit above the low headlamps but there is no missing that massive chrome grille with the shiny and exciting MG logo. The diamond-cut alloy wheels offered on the top-of-the-line models give Hector’s profile a distinct appearance and this surely helps it stand out among the sea of cars present on our roads.
Distinctive elements at the rear include a set of LED tail lamps and a premium chrome insert above the number plate slot. However, one of the most important elements on the back of the Hector is the internet inside badging….

    3. Internet connectivity
…which is the next and probably one of the most important reasons as to why you should by the Hector. It is India first connected SUV and there is a host of features on offer through the massive 10.40-inch touchscreen infotainment display that dominates the centre console.
This whole system is with you on the go thanks to a really useful mobile application, iSMART, available for both Android and Apple devices. MG has fitted a Airtel sim-card to the car. It has an embedded Machine to Machine (M2M) eSIM. The platform is Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPV6) and 5G ready.
Its distinct features include the following

    Hello MG

The Hector iSmart system comes with a cloud-enabled, AI-based Voice Assistant, enabling over 100 voice commands to control the vehicle. These include commands like open the sunroof, climate control, open window and the radio controls.

    Over the Air Updates

MG India is the first to offer OTA feature in India. This will make sure MG cars get updated whenever new updates are available, similar to smartphones or tablets.

    Safety and security via e-call

All MG cars would come with E-Call feature. This is an instant emergency response system. In case of a condition where airbags are deployed, E-Call is automatically triggered.

Concierge services via pulse hub - just press i-call button

The MG Hector’s iSMART enables concierge services. When the I-call is pressed, a message is sent to a customer service agent at Pulse Hub.

    Maps and navigation by TomTom

MG Hector iSmart comes with embedded maps and navigation solution from TomTom, the global leaders in automotive navigation.

    Music by Gaana

MG Hector iSmart is pre-loaded with the Gaana App and premium account with ad-free music and download capability.

    Weather by Accuweather

Finally, it also gets the Accuweather App embedded in the system. It provides real-time updates on weather at any location. Thus, weather conditions are always available to the driver, helping them take necessary action under inclement weather.

    4. First in segment features
The MG Hector gets a massive feature list bringing many segment-first features to the market. The top-of-the-list is obviously the Internet connectivity via the iSMART app and cloud-based storage. However, this list is also considerably large outside the virtual world.

    360-degree camera

It uses multiple cameras to display the bird’s eye view of the SUV and helps in parking the car in tighter places.

    LED Lighting with dynamic indicators

The MG Hector is the first SUV in its segment to feature LED lighting all around. In essence, the Hector gets LED headlamps, tail lamps and fog lamps as well.

    Front Parking Sensors

The Hector features front parking sensors as part of the standard safety net. The sensors are a lifesaver while getting the SUV in and out of tight parking spaces.

    Three-Point Seatbelts for all Passengers

The Hector features three-point seatbelts for all five passengers in the car. It means, the middle-seat occupant on the second row of seats also gets a three-point belt instead of a lap belt.

    Powered Front Seats

The MG Hector is the only car in its segment to feature powered front seats. While most vehicles in the segment only get an electrically adjustable driver seat, the Hector also gets a four-way adjustable powered passenger seat. That said, the driver seat is six-way adjustable.

    Ambient Lighting

The Hector features an eight-colour ambient lighting system that allows the passengers to set the cabin light according to their mood.

    Powered Tailgate

The Hector features a powered tailgate with height adjustment. The tailgate is relatively heavy and has a broader opening angle. To counter this, the tailgate gets a height adjustability function, which lets the user set the height and angle of opening to prevent it from scraping in narrow spaces.

    5. MG Shield
Well now that the Hector has got your attention. It is time to buy it and one of the first questions that you ask is that if I buy the car, will I be able to look after it??
Yes, you can! Thanks to MGs comprehensive Shield programme. It’s an aftersales package and as we have said before it is armour for your Hector that’s always dependable. There are three components as a part of the deal- the 5-5-5 Aftersales package, competitive cost of ownership and Shield Protect Plans. We have broken down of each of these and gone into the minor details and you can read about that here.
