2020 Renault Duster facelift spied undisguised ahead of India launch

2020 Renault Duster facelift spied undisguised ahead of India launch

- The new Renault Duster features updated front and rear fascia.

- It is expected to go on sale in India towards the end of this year.

- The Duster facelift will employ BS-VI compliant 1.5L engines.

If reports are to be believed, Renault India will not introduce the second-generation Duster, which is on sale in Europe. However, the company is working on a facelift for the Renault Duster, and the SUV was, yesterday, spied completely undisguised near Zojila Pass in Jammu and Kashmir. The new Duster is likely to be launched in India towards the end of 2019.

It is the first instance of the 2020 Renault Duster facelift being spotted without any camouflage whatsoever. The SUV was reportedly spied during its TVC shoot, and chances are, the market launch could be sooner than expected. The design of the new Duster is a departure from the old model. It packs a redesigned front and rear fascia, and there's also a set of new machined alloy wheels.

Up front, the new Renault Duster facelift gets a large V-shaped grille with chrome embellishments, redesigned projector headlamps with LED DRLs and a re-profiled front bumper. At the rear, it gets a flatter tailgate with a matte black applique and a revised rear bumper. On the profile, apart from the new alloys, there are no changes whatsoever.

While the updated fascia might bring a breath of fresh air to the Duster, its the interiors of the mid-SUV that have been it's Achilles heel. Although the spy shots don't reveal the cabin of the new Renault Duster, we hope the interiors are updated and in-line with what the competition has to offer.

Under the hood, the Duster will continue with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, but these will be BS-VI compliant. However, reports suggest Renault will discontinue the 84bhp version of the 1.5-litre diesel motor. Transmissions on offer will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT for the gasoline motor, while the oil burner will get 6-speed manual and AMT gearboxes. An AWD drive-train, too, will be introduced at a later stage. The Duster will rival against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
