The Tata Nexon will be offered with a choice of 1.2-litre Revotron turbo petrol and 1.5-litre Revotorq turbo diesel engines. Both these engines have a maximum power output of 108bhp, while peak torque is rated at 170Nm and 260Nm respectively. Both models, for now, will come mated only to a six-speed manual transmission. AMT variants will be added as an alternative only next year.
The Nexon is Tata's fourth product to be based on the brand's 'Impact' design philosophy. The launch of this SUV will mark Tata Motors' entry into the rapidly growing sub-compact SUV segment in India. The vehicle will then compete against primary rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. We expect the prices to start at Rs 6.5 lakhs ex-showroom making it a competitive price for this segment.
