The iCNG Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre engine that can run on both CNG and petrol. It pumps out 72bhp of power and 103bhp of torque, while the power figures in the petrol mode stay the same as non-CNG version.

Along with a five-speed manual gearbox, it gets a five-speed AMT transmission, a first in the segment. In our tests, the CNG-automatic's power delivery felt linear but the shifts take time and overtakes require a bit of planning.

Interior Gear Shifter/Gear Shifter Stalk

The segment-first paddle shifters add to the experience and convenience of the CNG-automatic Tata Punch. It adds more control and freedom to shift rather than relying on the AMT logic.

We also found the suspension setup to be quite pliant and smooth, taking on potholes, uneven roads and speed breakers with ease.

As for the NVH, the engine stays pretty silent until 500rpm. But the cabin could've undergone better insulation as ambient noise does seem to seep inside the cabin.

It gets twin-CNG tanks, positioned under the boot.

It gets a two-spoke steering wheel with Tata logo, steering mounted controls, height adjustable driver seat, 45+ iRA connected car tech, and push start button.

Tata has also added a 360-degree camera system, wireless charger and Type-C fast charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice operated sunroof, automatic climate control, and rear arm rests and AC vents.

The Punch facelift has a boot space of 366-litres, while the CNG versions have a boot capacity of 210-litres.

The Punch facelift gets six airbags, ESP, iTPMS, cruise control, and all-wheel discs, ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Using the Punch Pure Plus has been a good experience. The car is comfortable, easy to drive in city traffic, and handles bad roads well. Steering is light, seats are comfortable, and overall build feels solid. Engine performance is decent for daily use. A practical and value-for-money car.
