Ford India sales up by 3 per cent amidst weak economy

Ford India continued its sales momentum in 2013 and closed the year with a combined domestic sales and exports of 11,209 units in December, up by 3 per cent since 2012. They have exports amounting to 5338 units in December in comparison to the same period in 2012 where they sold 4382 units.

Vinay Piparsania, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India said,“Despite difficult economic and business environment, 2013 has been a remarkable and rewarding year for Ford in India. With several months of sustained sales performances and Ford EcoSport recognised with major awards in its debut year, we are excited to conclude the year with our products finding greater acceptance from customers and media.”

Ford EcoSport swept all the awards.Among the many accolades it was christened with was  the Viewer’s Choice Car of the Year, Best Value for Money, SUV of the Year along with Engine of the Year (1.0-litre Ecoboost) and the Technology & Innovation award for Emergency Assistance in SYNC.

Ford’s growth has been steady throughout 2013; they sold 119,715 vehicles domestic sales and exports included. Sales throughout the year were fuelled by adding more products in the line-up. Although Ford launched the Figo celebration edition and the Endeavour All Terrain edition, the EcoSport swept away all the honours in 2013. The EcoSport turned out to be a blockbuster with critics and customers swearing by it.

The growth was supported by the company’s dealer network expansion to 274 sales and service outlets, covering 146 cities across the country. It has been a decent year for Ford India and they would like to build up the momentum in 2014.
