Mahindra launches XUV500 W4 Variant for Rs 10.83 lakh

Mahindra has launched the XUV500 W4 variant for Rs 10.83 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). This base variant of the Indian automaker’s flagship SUV had been a speculation over the last few months and now finally gets the official price tag. The XUV500 W4 looks like Mahindra’s answer to the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and the Nissan Terrano.

The Mahindra XUV500 W4 variant retains all the styling and design cues including the LED projector  headlights. Interestingly the Indian auto major has not compromised on safety either and W4 gets almost everything including  dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, side impact beams, crash protection with crumple zones, all wheel disc brakes and remote central locking.  It also gets dual tone interiors, two din music system with MP3 compatibility and four speakers.

The engine powering the W4 variant is the 2.2-litre turbocharged mHawk diesel engine that produces 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. It has been fitted with Mahindra’s Micro hybrid technology and thanks to this, it has an ARAI efficiency of 15.1kmpl.

As we said earlier, the W4 variant will compete with the Renault Duster 85PS RXL, Nissan Terrano XL Plus and the top of the line Ford EcoSport diesel Titanium (optional). It will also rival Mahindra’s own Scorpio but since it is likely that there is going to be a new model next year (of the Scorpio) we expect minimum taking of market share.
