Jeep, a popular name in the utility vehicle segment has shown interest in introducing a smaller SUV which will be positioned under the Renegade. If launched, it will help the automaker to further expand its product lineup for customers. Along with the Nissan Juke in international markets, the compact SUV will also compete against the Ford EcoSport here.
Jeep will first introduce the Compass SUV in India in 2017, while the EcoSport rival might be launched at a later date. Jeep’s current lineup is well known for its rugged built and impressive off-roading ability, and it is anticipated that the new model will also get Jeep’s tough DNA. Moreover, the upcoming compact SUV will also get the four-wheel drive system along with good ground clearance figures. As for safety, it will offer ABS and airbags as standard.
Still in its early stages, the company has not revealed the technical specification for the vehicle yet and it is believed that that utility vehicle manufacturer will be introducing the new model on the Renegade platform. The new compact SUV from Jeep will be built at Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility in India which is also used for the 2017 Jeep Compass. Being locally made we expect it to be priced around the EcoSport range in the country. Additional details about the vehicle will be known in the coming days.
