Toyota sells 12,556 units in October 2014

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 12,556 units in October 2014 in the domestic market as compared to 13,162 units in Oct 2013. The sales are down by about 4.82 per cent in comparison to the corresponding period last year.

The Japanese carmaker also exported 1,160 units of its Etios models in October, registering a total sales of 13,716 units. For the corresponding period last year they sold 15,576 units which is a drop of 13.5 per cent.

Mr. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing said, “We have maintained the sales volumes as Sept, in the domestic market and hope to see growth in the next two months.”

While the domestic sales are down, so are the exports in comparison to the figures in 2013. Currently, Toyota needs a volume seller under Rs 5 lakh, the Etios models failed to excite the Indian buyers. Also, the addition of vehicles like the Maruti Ertiga and the Honda Mobilio have also taken a toll on its best-seller, the Innova, by a fair bit.
