Skoda Superb Sportline: Explained in Detail

Skoda has introduced a new variant for the Superb in India. The new variant of the flagship sedan is positioned below the top-spec L&K trim but above the Style variant and comes with a lot of sporty bits. Available with both petrol and diesel engine, the Sportline gets three new colour options as well. 

The Superb Sportline stands out with its sporty demeanour which is accentuated by glossy black treatment on ORVMs, on the grille, side window frames, side door inserts and a petite spoiler at the back. There are chrome highlights on the rear diffusers and the luxury Limo sits on stylish 17-inch dual-tone Drakon alloy wheels. The three new body paint includes – Moon White, Velvet Red and Steel Grey.

On the inside, the sportiness has been emphasised again with carbon décor and LED ambient lightings. The three-spoke SuperSport steering wheel has been refurbished with black perforated leather and contrasting silver stitching and behind it, there are paddle-shifters as well. The upholstery has been upgraded to satin black Alcantara Sports Seats with integrated headrests and diamond stitching. The chrome front and rear door sill strips with ‘Superb’ inscription and the chrome pedals are also part of the package.

The Skoda Superb Sportline is available in the two powertrain options, like the rest of the line-up. So you get the 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines both mated with a DSG automatic transmission. The former puts out 177bhp/250Nm while the latter is good for 174bhp/350Nm. 

One trim lower compared to the opulent L&K trim, the Sportline has a generous profusion of connectivity and luxury features as well. The eight-inch floating touchscreen now has a proximity sensor and comes with new-gen Amundsen infotainment system developed by Skoda. It also comes loaded with the carmaker’s SmartLink technology (which is a connectivity bundle supporting MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto). The ‘Simply Clever’ connectivity functions are also available which control the radio, music, and navigation. There is a three-zone climate control, 10 colour ambient lighting, puddle lights, rearview camera with an integrated washer, the illuminated and cooled Jumbo Box. The Superb already offers a massive 625 litres of boot space, which can be further expanded to 1,760 litres with the rear seats folded down. On the safety front, Skoda offers eight airbags, ABS, ESC, and EBD along with mechanical brake assist, multi-collision brake, hill brake assist), hill hold control, anti-slip regulation and electronic differential lock. There’s also anti-theft alarm with interior monitoring, passenger seat beat with warning light, and Parktronic sensors both at front and rear.

Finally, the pricing – Skoda has priced the Superb Sportline at Rs 28.99 lakhs for the petrol and Rs 31.49 lakhs for the diesel guise (ex-showroom all-India). This makes it almost Rs 1.47 – 1.49 lakhs cheaper than the L&K trims. However, the sporty bits add up to being Rs 1.5 lakhs dearer than the Style variants of the luxury sedan.
