Official: Ford EcoSport crossover to be launched in June

Its official! The most highly anticipated car of the year, the Ford EcoSport compact crossover is all set to be launched in June. The American automaker has announced the news via a mass e-mailer that it has sent out to all those who signed up for its news alerts. We have already driven the EcoSport and pretty much know everything there is to know about the vehicle…expect obviously the price (the final piece in the puzzle) and it seems that we are one step closer to that. 

The Ford EcoSport is a sub four metre compact crossover. It will be offered with two petrol engines and one diesel mill. The former comprises a 1.5-litre mill and the award winning 123PS 1.0-litre Ecoboost mill. The diesel is a 1.5-litre oil burner that has been sourced from the Fiesta sedan. 

Ford is believed to be banking heavily on the EcoSport to return it (in terms of sales) to days of the Ikon sedan. It has already said that it will price the crossover competitively and is expected to use its export to around 32 countries as leverage in this regard.
