Lamborghini has rolled out the 10,000th Huracan from Sant’Agata Bolognese in four years marking a production milestone for the baby Lambo. The milestone vehicle is a Huracan Performante heading to Canada. It is finished in the unique Verde Mantis colour paying homage to Lamborghini’s no. 11 car’s victory in the 2018 Daytona 24 Hours race.
Last year, the Italian carmaker sold 3,815 models of which 2,642 were Huracans. Compared to 2016, the Huracan sales grew by an impressive 16 per cent, says the carmaker. The Huracan was introduced in 2014 as a replacement to the highest selling Lamborghini till date, the Gallardo. In its 10 years of service, 13,992 Gallardos were produced making it the highest selling Raging Bull till date.
Lamborghini currently sells six iterations of the Huracan around the world. There are four-wheel and two-wheel derivatives of both coupe and Spyder configuration apart from the Performante derivatives of both. Then there is the one make championship with the Huracan Super Trofeo and a Huracan GT3 as well. Powering it is a 5.2-litre V10 punching out at least 610bhp of firepower and 560Nm of twisting force. Transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch unit. The Baby Lambo can sprint to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 325kmph.
However, the Huracan will continue to use a naturally aspirated V10 until its replacement arrives. It has only reached half of its product life-cycle so don’t expect another Baby Lambo for a few more years. The replacement might adopt a forced induction or an electrified powertrain but those unwanted necessities of the sports car world won’t trouble the Huracan at all. But we expect Lamborghini to slightly tweak the Huracan or add more variants like the Superleggera or other limited edition iterations in the coming years. Meanwhile, the Huracan is also bound to overtake the Gallardo as the highest selling Bull from Sant’Agata Bolognese.
