    Slightly tweaking the popular adage, diamonds are a girls best friend, a Russian woman has apparently made them her cars best friend too. The now popular Russian instagrammer, Daria Radionova, showed off a customised Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 covered in Swarovski crystals. Oh and she also mentioned in a cheeky comment on Instagram, im not an arab guy lol, alongside the hashtags #blingbling #mercedes #swarovski #crystals #crystalcar #knightsbridge #harrods.

At the heart of every car movie lies the story of this character and their quest to achieve a certain kind of success that by the looks of the plot line, only the car can provide. The cars constant presence is across themes like family troubles (Gone in 60 seconds) and competitive spirit (Le Mans or the more Americanised, Days of Thunder. To honour this mechanical protagonist, we have decided to list out five of our favourite car movies, their plots and what makes them so appealing to the petrol head in all of us.

This trend will slowly diminish with the constant narrowing of the price difference between diesel and petrol.
