New Ford Focus Wagon spotted for first time

This is the first sighting of the new Ford Focus wagon prototype, and reports state that the new model is significantly larger than the car it replaces. This effectively means that Ford has sorted-out the lack of rear knee-room and boot space that the current-gen Focus is notorious for.  

A closer look at the test car’s front bumper shows us a pair of cameras. But it remains unclear if these are meant for some sort of autonomous driving aids or whether they are just for parking. Also, top-end versions of this car are expected to be equipped with LED head and tail lamps, so this prototype must be a base variant since it uses halogen head lamps and non-LED tail lights.

The next generation Ford Focus is going to be based on a new platform that will incorporate a longer wheelbase and a wider track. Sources expect Ford to push the next-gen Focus’ with only the brand’s award-winning EcoBoost series of motors, depending on the market. It is believed that Ford could choose the 2018 Geneva Motor Show to unveil the Focus hatchback, after which the other avatars (sedan and wagon) should follow.
