Another facelift for Chevrolet Captiva under development

A little over a year after making its debut at the2013 Geneva Motor Show, the existing Chevrolet Captiva is set to go under the knife yet again. Going by these latest spy shots, General Motors has started work on developing a new facelifted version for this popular soft-roader model. 

According to a report, the American carmaker has no immediate plans of developing a successor for the Captiva and with no new generation model in sight; the brand is concentrating on rejuvenating the existing model with another facelift. 

The existing Captiva, first shown at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, doesn’t boast of dramatic design upgrades over the original model. The vehicle, in fact, features subtle design revisions to keep up with times. 

The upcoming facelifted model, then, will follow a similar route with equally subtle changes to the exterior. Expect a new design for the grille, front bumper and the headlights. Additionally, the new model could benefit from new LED daytime running lights. 

The upcoming model, in all probability, will continue to be offered with the same set of diesel engines including 2-litre and 2.2-litre VCDi units. While the smaller 2-litre engine produces 148bhp of power and 320Nm of toque, the more powerful 2.2-litre unit puts out 184bhp of power and 425Nm of torque. Launch details of the facelifted Captiva are very limited at the moment but one can be sure that the vehicle will eventually arrive in the Indian market following its global debut.
