Citroen has begun testing their second generation C3 Picasso mini MPV. This vehicle was first introduced in 2008 and the brand freshened things up with a facelift in 2012.
Going by the test car in the pictures, sources state that this iteration of the C3 Picasso must be in the final stages of development. It looks funkier and a marked increase in exterior dimensions points heavily to the fact that this MPV will definitely be more spacious than its predecessor. Reports also suggest that the design language of the C4 Picasso (its bigger MPV brother) has been borrowed for this model.
While the current C3 Picasso is based on the Peugeot 207’s platform, the new C3 Picasso will use the PSA PF1 architecture from the 208. This is the same platform that PSA has agreed to share with Opel for the third generation of the Meriva MPV. This second-generation Citroen C3 Picasso is slated to get a range of petrol and diesel motors that will send power to the front wheels. Petrol power will come from a 68bhp 1.0-litre PureTech engine and a 1.2-litre motor with 82bhp or 110bhp. On the other hand, diesel power is expected to come from the 1.6-litre BlueHDi with 75bhp, 99bhp or 120bhp.
The French brand will debut this all-new generation of the C3 Picasso in early 2018.
