1. Buying Experience The buying experience was amazing. I first bought a BMW X1 in 2019, and later my friend bought the new X1 in 2023. The buying experience in Pune is very good—after all, they are selling cars worth more than ₹50 lakh. Sales staff are professional, polite, and make you feel valued as a customer. 2. Riding Experience BMW’s riding experience is always excellent. It’s sporty and instantly brings a smile to your face. The moment you press the pedal, your mood changes. BMW truly knows how to deliver driving pleasure. 3. Looks, Performance & Comfort Looks and performance are unmatchable—simply amazing. The car feels solid, powerful, and premium. Comfort-wise, I would suggest checking other brands in the same segment, mainly because BMW seats are on the harder side. Overall though, the experience is still very good. 4. Servicing & Maintenance This is where BMW disappoints badly. The service experience is pathetic and honestly unacceptable. After 90,000 km, I needed a major service and was given a quotation of ₹80,000 just for an estimate of parts to be replaced. Maintenance costs are extremely high. Engine mounts fail roughly every 20,000 km, and BMW is well aware of this. That’s exactly why they offer only 2 years of warranty—they know the limitations of their product. 5. Pros and Cons Pros: Excellent driving experience Good overall comfort Very fuel-efficient (BMWs are surprisingly fuel-efficient) Cons: Maintenance After 60,000 km, the car spends more time in the service center, and you need to keep your pockets full at all times.

It delivers the premium feel expected from BMW while remaining practical for daily use. Design & Styling: The BMW X1 has a strong and sporty road presence. The M Sport package adds a lot of character with its aggressive front grille, sleek LED headlights, and well-designed body lines. Even after a year of usage, the design still feels fresh and premium. Inside, the cabin quality is excellent, with high-grade materials, solid build quality, and a clean, modern layout. The M Sport seats are comfortable and provide good support for long drives. Performance: The petrol engine is smooth, refined, and very responsive for both city and highway driving. Power delivery is linear, making overtakes easy and stress-free. The automatic transmission works seamlessly and suits Indian driving conditions well. Even after regular use, the engine remains quiet and vibration-free. Ride and Handling: One of the highlights of the X1 is its driving dynamics. The steering is precise, and the car feels stable and confident at higher speeds. The suspension offers a good balance—comfortable enough for daily commuting while still maintaining BMW’s signature handling. Bad roads are managed well without compromising ride comfort too much. Features and Technology: The infotainment system is smooth and easy to use, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay working reliably. The digital instrument cluster, touchscreen interface, and premium audio system add to the overall driving experience. Safety features and driver assistance systems provide confidence during long trips and city traffic. Value for Money: Although the BMW X1 is priced on the higher side, the quality, performance, brand value, and driving pleasure justify the cost. Compared to rivals, it feels more engaging to drive and more premium in terms of fit and finish. After using the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport for about a year, I can confidently say it is a well-balanced luxury SUV. It combines comfort, performance, and advanced features with the driving pleasure BMW is known for. A great option for those looking for a premium compact SUV that is enjoyable to drive and practical to own.
