2017 Detroit Motor Show: Nissan demonstrates V-motion 2.0 Concept

Nissan has unveiled the V-motion 2.0 Concept at the Detroit Motor Show giving us a glimpse into the brand’s design future. According to Nissan, the new design direction is targeted at an ease of mobility for ‘busy professionals’.

The V-motion 2.0 Concept seems interesting with the Nissan’s trademark ‘V-motion’ grille adorning the front fascia. The sleek LED headlights and muscular air vents merge seamlessly into the fluidic lines of the car. The design is a blend of sharp creases and smooth surfaces. The floating roof effect goes well with the suicidal doors and no B-pillar at all, to elevate the sense of space inside. The funky alloys look good while the taillight seems inspired from the current-gen Nissan Maxima. The diffuser is replaced by a LED strip. The distinctive body surface is termed as Nissan’s “Emotional Geometry” design language by the Japanese carmaker.

On the inside, the approach is minimalist and the use of futuristic materials makes it a tad geeky. The dashboard is mounted with a wide TFT screen extending all the way to the instrument cluster. The large touchscreens replace the buttons, the steering is squared-off and the floating centre console runs all the way to the backseat mounted with a screen for rear passengers.

Nissan hasn’t divulged any details about the V-motion 2.0 Concept’s powertrain but hinted it to be the future of “Nissan Intelligent Mobility,” the carmaker’s plans to achieve zero emissions and zero fatalities. The show car also featured the brand’s full autonomous tech – ProPilot that will eventually be featured in all Nissan passenger cars. The front logo and the rear LED diffuser illuminates when the Concept car was in autonomous driving mode, to let the other road users know that the ProPilot is in action. Nissan plans to use this ProPilot autonomous tech in the upcoming Qashqai and the next-generation Leaf.
