Exterior Cheep and falling apart in under 6 months!

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Cheep and falling apart in under 6 months! Most uncomfortable ever!

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Performance is OK, Fuel economy is 24 mpg-10L/100km on premium fuel, NOT 50 like they rate it! Gearbox is hard to shift and often wont even go into gear, 3rd and 4th are the worst!

 

Ride Quality & Handling Your lucky to get 20 or 30k out of a set of tires on these cars, This car feals like its out of controle all the time! (has had 5 alignments!) the rear sways from side to side at hwy speeds! There is a reason this car made it to the MOST DEADLY in Crashes! these cause the crashes!

 

Final Words General Motors is the Worst ever! My car has been in for warrantee over 20 times! The Dealers Dont Care! They wont fix anything! Wont even look into tire wear issues or horrible fuel mileage! They dont Care! I called General Motors every day for 6 months to complain about this car! They cont care, and wont do anything!

It is one of the best cars available in the price rane. It has style and comfort. Overall if you compare the features it does not ag behind anything accept for the mileage to a certain extent and the gears,  that also i feel after reading the various user reviews of similar sedans is comparitively good or same. Once you get used to the car you will be cruising on the highways. Had GM India aggressively campaigned and improvised on this car, it would have been one of the leading sedans.

Overall it is a real good car.

Exterior I'll try to provide a very unbiased review, bringing out detailed pros and cons. I bought the aveo this October, linen beige color. The exteriors are excellent, and the car looks awesome from outside and inside. The LT version comes with alloy wheels and rear spoiler which makes the car look classy. The boot space is excellent, with lights for night vision. However, the 2 rings which hold the boot open (inside) cut back on the boot space. The rod supporting the hood is located on the left, and is poorly thought of.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The beige interiors and space are excellent, and it feels like sitting in a space shuttle. The plush leather seats are soft and easy on the body, and one can sink into them. The height adjustable driver seats and steering are very convenient. The leg room is ample, even with the front seats pushed back. However, the driver's leg room can get a little cramped for tall drivers. The chrome outlining speedometers and door handles make it look good. The internally adjustable OVRMs are also excellent

I have been driving a Hyundai Santro. I must say that from a drive comfort point of view, Hyundai has certain simple well thought of features which increases driving ease and comfort, which is absent in the Chevy, such as:-

a) Foot rest near the clutch, absent in Chevy.

b) Indicator lever is on the left of the steering instead of the right. As most of us drive with the right hand on the steering, keeping the indicator lever to the left is very irritating.

c) In the Chevy, one has to look for the 2 small horn buttons on the steering wheel, and locating it to honk is quite irritating. Whereas in the Santro, one just has to press anywhere on the steering wheel body to honk.

d) The glove compartment is pretty small compared to the car size, and one can hardly keep a few documents.

e) The dashboard is rounded , and hence once cannot even keep a tissue paper holder on it.

f) Small open compartments to the left and right bottom of the steering wheel to keep the phone/coins/parking tickets etc., which is absent in the Chevy.

g) The rear view mirror is quite small compared to the size of the vehicle.

The worst drawback is that the Aveo's beige dashboard reflects very badly on the front windscreen during daytime, which greatly deters visibility. Chevy should put anti reflect glass on its windscreen if it wishes to continue with beige interiors. The music system does not have USB compatibility, which is a basic feature on all modern decks. However, the sound quality and output are excellent.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is noiseless and the gearbox is good although a little on the stiffer side. The reverse gear lever can get quite irritating at times. I understand that Chevy has designed the 'reverse first' as a safety concept, but I think it is not too practical as there is no '6th gear'. The lever up reverse takes time to get used to, and for close range parking, it can be quite dangerous. The fuel economy is good, giving 11 in the city.

 

Ride Quality & Handling The ride is silky smooth, a driver's pleasure. The handling is also excellent and the car can handle sharp turns comfortably, and the turning radius is low.  The pick up is a little suspect on the 2nd and 3rd gears, but after 60 kph, the drive is velvetty. The car can take 130 - 140 kmp without vibrations or shakes.

 

Final Words SC Auto, Thane gave a good discount and the Manager Shaji was a delight to interact with. Excellent value for money. If you are looking to buy this car, go for the fully loaded LT version instead of the LS version (and upgrading it). Excellent value for money for the features, looks, driving experience and space. I would recommend it over a fiesta or a linea from a VFM perspective.

 

Areas of improvement Definitely the windscreen and dashboard, which is presently a deadly combination. The drivers console needs tweaking to suit driving ease, such as foot rest, indicator lever change, compartments (glove and others). I think being American, its designed more for a left hand drive, and they've missed making certain modifications for right hand drive. Adding USB compatibility would be a simple addition to the music system, which can also be a selling point.

Exterior Exterior looks are very elegant, the petrol tank filling is from the right side, which is more comfortable according to me.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Enteriors are spacious as well as beautiful, lots of leg space for the front seat passenger, lots of space for the luggage. The front cabinet is very huge and provides the extra dose of beauty, though this can create a problem while driving for people of short height, especially ladies as the distance between pedals and seat is larger than most of the cars. The horn at the center is a little irritating though not a problem.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Excellent and powerfull engine, I have myself gone upto 170 Km per hour at Vadodara- Ahmedabad highway. It can go above this speed also, I think touching 200 is possible. Gearbox is also quite good and gear shifiting is as smooth as it can be. Fuel economy is the only minus point. In general it is tough to extract more than 8 km/hr in city and more than 12-13 Km/hr on highways, though I can easily extract 17 Km/hr from the same car on highways and 11 Km/hr on city. This is due to the understanding developed after 30000 kms of driving the same car. The trick is not to push the accelerator too much, especially at low speeds as the engine is already more powerful than required.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Stearing and suspension is also nothing short of excellent, ensuring the smoothest drive possible on even as well as rough roads. Pick up is excellent and only the quality of road is the limit.

 

Final Words The car is very good, but the chevrolet service sucks.. low fuel economy and costly spare parts ensure that only lion hearted shall go for it as it may prove costly in the long run.

 

Areas of improvement Fuel Economy, Location of horn buzzer, if seat can be designed to slide a little further towards the front cabinet, it can be made more comfortable for ladies to drive. I will not recommend to reduce the size of the front cabinet as that is the major attraction in the interior looks.

Exterior Exterior is ok bought a factory installed spoiler and some rain sheilds, installed after market mud guards. The Body is an overall nice looking car depending on your taste of boxy or not so boxy models.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Wow there is not much room for anything yeah it seats 5 but not comfortably at all. Drvier space is really tiny whole car is practically a death trap one good wreck and everyone would be toast. No room for upgrading either car seat covers forget it due to the seat installed airbags. Not much room to shift comfortably if you have front seat pasenger. Back seats are cramped if you taller than 5' 5".

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox FUEL ECONOMY WHATS THAT??? Your talking more like 16-23 miles a gallon MAX 26 miles a gallon. Seriously less than 3 months after i bought this it was recalled due to faulty fuel injection adjusting valves. Gearbox What is this some high tech motorcycle transmission seriously has clutch problems really jerky shifting, like i said not much room for shifting either. Want an aftermarket shifter or boot forget it unless you want to seriously tweek your interior. OVERALL ENGINE PERFORMANCE VERY UNSATISFIED!!!

 

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality? Well if you like to feel every little pebble and rock you ride over and hear the highway wind noise this is definately your car. Suspension really sucks bumpy riding car. hear your tires bounce radio has to be at atleast 20 to hear it over the road noise.

 

Final Words DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PILE OF CRAP!!!! Ever heard that song by Adam Sandler about his car he must ve bought a chevy Aveo. I was also wondering how much it actually cost to make one of these? $4k-$5k maxx and how long to assemble 2-3 hours?

 

Areas of improvement IMPROVEMENTS OH I GOT PLENTY!!! Better soundproofing, Smoother riding struts and shocks, less bubbly interior panels for improved room, maybe put a two stroke engine in there so you will actually get 26/34 city/highway miles maybe even a three stroke, more interchangable parts i.e. shifter boot, shift knob, stereos, seat covers, i could go on and on about how i wasted away $15k but honestly ill go out a few thousand more next time and buy a better car maybe the FORD focus or Dodge Calliber.

Exterior Excellent exteriors (Best in the class, comparable to Honda city).

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent interiors (best in the class), specious (better than SX4, Honda city, comparable to Manza). Driver knee touches to left side of dash board (my height is 5.5). AC is cool and music system is very good.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is poor around 2000 RPM. (good at higher RPM). GM should look seriously in to this problem as this could be MCU bug. Fuel economy is around 11 in city and 13 on highway. Not comparable Manza which is much better (18?). Not improved after first servicing. Hope to improve after second servicing. Gear shifting is not much smooth, it is okay, accelerator sometimes feels hard while pressing. ABS, Airbags can not check. Believes it is working.

 

Ride Quality & Handling Good.

 

Final Words It is good car in this segment and so far no problem. Pashankar auto Pune is providing good service. However they should separate cars servicing facility from commercial vehicles.

 

Areas of improvement Fuel economy, Performance around 2000 RPM. USB input, Blue tooth for music system is must.

Exterior

 The exterior of this car is excellent. Has a clean shaven look with streamlining for a low air resistance. It also helps to reduce the noise levels inside the car

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

 Choosing leather interiors for this car would prove fatal to the feel factor on this car. It is good enough to have a fabric finish. The factory fitted fabric is clean and good enough. However i have protected it with my own seat covers from a local shop.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

 As long as you dont overload the car the engine is smooth and enough to ride 5 passengers. On the fuel front it gives currently about 8 to 10 kilometers depending on my driving style and distance.

Ride Quality & Handling

 The car handles well and the ride quality is good. The suspension does its work in making sure the passengers are comfortable.

 Buy this car.

Areas of improvement  

 The car meets its expectations, any improvement would involve cost from the company and in turn increase the price of the car which we dont want. Good going chevy!

Bought the car around month back... Though it was an exercise to buy it... Ashtavinayak Auto in Mumbai gives pathetic service.. Got a car around 15 days after the promised date..Wrote 10 mails to GM but no substantial response.

Coming to the car, nice ans spacious with very good looks from outside. Upholstry inside is a mix of genuine and composite leather.. Dashboard could have been utilized better..no space for keeping CDs..no remote withe music system..

Nice pick up, good pick up overall... the only problem I found was the drag when u press accelator in second gear.. the problem is not there in 3rd gear,...but 2nd gear even at speed of 20 doesnt pick up the car with AC on..

Overall has been a satisfying experience till now..Mileage could have been better..gives just around 10 in Mumbai..
