Mercedes-Benz is actively working on an all-new generation of the E-Class, as seen in these latest spy photographs. But this time around this new model has been caught on camera virtually undisguised. The next-gen E-Class will replace the current model that has been around for nearly five years.
Although bigger in size, the new E-Class will be lighter than the current model, thanks to the extensive use of aluminium in the new car’s Modular Rear Architecture platform. The new E-Class is also expected to have a longer wheelbase which will improve the rear passenger space.
The engine range for the next-gen E-Class will include new three and four-cylinder engines, although it’s also possible that Mercedes could bring back straight six engines. As for the AMG-spec model, Mercedes will introduce the familiar 4-litre, twin turbo V8 in the next E63 AMG. Like in the current model, the next-gen E63 AMG will feature all-wheel drive as an option and a more powerful E63 AMG S version.
The next-gen E-Class is expected to arrive early next year. When launched, it will replace the current-gen model that has been in the market since 2010.
