Maruti Suzuki Swift [2010-2011] User Reviews

Hi,

After driving all types of cars for almost 10 years in India and abroad, I was really impressed with the New Swift diesel.

I planned to buy a new swift diesel, hence tested not jus the test car but went ahead to book a car from Avis rental agency for self drive - so to get the real feel and the actual pros / cons.

The Swift i had got, had 18250 Km under 4 months -- So, it's indeed a real test and it's gonna reveal factuals.

First Impression:

No big difference expect for loose electrical brake light - i didn't find any major Hiccups!! Performance was same as new / engine sound was the same!

1. Power : Throughout, the distribution is good - clocked speeds upto 170 KM/Hr without hassle! The pickup is very good - so in city, u can very well stay ahead in traffic lights :)

2. Handling: Once in the highway the handling is much better in corners than the Vxi model even - beacuse of the extra engine wt it added to better handling. If you have the factory fitted tyres - don't worry getting off the road for a kick off!! Whereas, if you have changed to high rated rubbers, take care -- it can drag u around when driven at speeds in mud especially when wet. (later gives a better ride though -- so it's ur choice and depends on the way u wanna drive).

3. Ride : Is good not great --- the competitive Getz gives a better ride though! But, Nowhere stands to SWIFT when comes to handling.... In short -- it's a driver's car!

4. Mileage : However the bad u drive - u can manage a decent 12.5 KM /litres!! When my dad drove - he could get a comfortable 17-18 KM.

5. Interiors : The windows are a bit different in the way it's done -- meaning -- if u r fond of resting ur right hand on the window pane and then rest on steering --- u will have a tough time!! The window sills are surprising high rised -- It's a small thing but for the real aspirant driver - he has to change his style of driving if he has one ;) And if u r less than 5 ft 6 --- think over -- jus sit on the driver seat and check ur alround visibility before u go ahead. (My friend said sooo -- i being 6 didn't have any probs)

Dashboards are simple and nice - nothing great and nothing bad and are neither outdated or too futuristic!

6. Exteriors : Nicely well crafted. But the steel is not that great -- dents in the bonnet and petrol lid alignment are common if u r not careful.

Overall --- weighing the pros and cons; I'm impressed - have booked a Swift Vdi ABS version -- but still shifting dealers as waiting period is too high.

Amazing pickup / Great Mileage / Handling and Braking a diff leagueRide at slow speeds compromised a bit to enhance handling

I am Vivek Sutar. The proud owner of my SWIFT Diesel VDi. The car I purchased on 15th September 2007.

So far I have driven my car almost 59000 Kms in just span of 15 months. It is remarkable performance of the vehical. Superb style/ excellent Engine / Best Fuel economy.....and 100 % Relible... what not I can add here.

With speed of alomost in the range of 90-110 with AC always ON, this CAR has always given me FUEL economy in the range of 21-24 Km/Ltr.

The cost of SERVICING is hardly the routine servicing I did with SAI SERVICE Pune.

A GREAT DRIVING FUN with POWER, STYLE & ECONOMY.....

Exterior This gem of a car has got classy looks, it boasts of an exquisite aura,swift has got great styling, it gives you the ultimate sports feel, you become accustomed to the fabuolous aerodynamic shape of the swift.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The maruti swift is really spacious, it is comfortable for driver as well as for the rear passengers.comfort comes standard with the maruti swift.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The most important aspect of maruti suzuki swift which makes it the most loved Indian car in its class is its excellent fuel economy,i drive my swift vdi about 800 kilometres in one tankfill.At 100 km per hr speed and AC on,i get 19.5kmpl.

 

Ride Quality & Handling The ride quality of the swift is good,handling is also god but it would be in the interest of the safety of the passengers if the braking system is improved substantially.

 

Final Words No.1 car in India.

 

Areas of improvement Space for water bottles could be provided,braking system must be improved.

Swift Rocks!

I just wanted to write a review today because I am loving my car more as days pass by. I want to reiterate that the performance of the car on highways is just what car lovers will like. I hit the highways almost everyweek. The ride quality is really smooth no engine noise (petrol version) as such I could easily touch 0-140kmph in few seconds.

The exterior looks is unmatched with any hatchback currently in India. My car is equipped with ABS brake and halts just at the same place if you could imagine. I feel proud when I zoom through the highways and even manage to overtake i20s. 

The stability of the car is one strong point that I must confess. I have not spent alot of money on maintenance, that is the secret with swift. I would have hardly spent money for things like mandatory oil changes and any minor parts replacement. I should say that swift had fullfilled all my expectations. Currently it gives a mileage around 17kmpl in the city and 18.5 kmpl on highways, you couldnt ask for more.

 

Engine performance peaked from 5000 kms, it is just getting better. The gearbox is smooth and the gear change is much easier than in any other cars I have driven. To get good engine performance and to get a smooth ride,  handling the car like a child is important. Changing oils at recommended times and maintaining the car is vital for the performance of any car.

Areas of improvement Weak Clutch, I have not encountered this problem myself but got the feedback from my other friends. Gauge meter falls rapidly after half way mark till then it is stable. Ideally Leg space at the back should be more, No accessories provided.

Exterior Iit looks good. no concerns watsoever.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Mine is swift diesel(dec 08). just loved it till 20000kms. no issues. now its 66000kms old. its so noisy now. built so bad. so much of vibration. very irritatatin, frustrating, annoying. jus hate my vehicle now. jus wanna kick it away. suspension too so bad. so bouncy. because of this bad suspension, me gettin so much of noise. Its very much an overrated vehicle. swift is a huge success because ther was not much competion wen it was launched. But now the case is different. V hve punto, i20, micra, polo, figo, reportedly toyota comin up with the new hatch bag, so just dont buy swift thinkin abt its reputation and resale value, al its other competitors r far ahead of swift. Tat too figo (1st 2 models)and punto (active and dynamic) cost less than swift diesel.

 

Final Words Figo and punto r equally priced. but far better than swift. polo too reportedly good. i20 is already proven. so dont ever go for swift. its not worth.

I bought it in July'06 from Bangalore. Extremely stylish and great to drive are the first feelings. Feels really comfortable when sitting/driving. Thers is no con for the money we pay.However, Swift can improve in areas mileage, boot space and other storage area (like I have no place to keep the bought vegetables every week). Car met my expectations and felt that it was 100 times better than Hyundai cars.First of all, the ease of buying a car was great.4 dealres called me in 10 minutes of showing interest for buying swift.Even when I walked to Advaith and Trident (Hyundai dealres) nobody seems to care.They were pathetic and literally they sold Swift.maruti service, finance options ,etc were good though it can still be improved.Great Driving experience,Good power, Extremely Stylish & bit spacious too.Maruti Service truly bestLow on Mileage, Should have improved much better on interiors , providing additional storage space

For all my friends out there who do not get a good economy out of their Swift: Keep in mind that the AC compressor is very powerful. Even in peak summer, you will not need to run it on full cooling.

In short adjust your AC termostat as follows (For Non Climate Control cars):

- Hot day: Horizontal

- Shady Day: 1 to 2 notches above horizontal

- Night: 2 to 4 notches above horizontal

I have driven this car 30000 kms doing the above and I typically get a city average of 12.6, A mix of city and highway average of 13.2 and a complete highway average of 14.5 Km/l

I bought the Swift VXI in may 2008. This is my first car and realy very excited about my car. The car is excellent in all the aspects and very satisfactory. However two area where this does not meet my benchmarks are the 1. Low quality interior - very poor plastic used for dash board (gets scrached very easily) 2. Very low feul efficiency. I imformed that the feul efficient would improve once i cross 3000 km. I am just keeping my figures crossed and keeping a closed eye on the fuel efficiency and enjoying my first car.

This is one rockin hell of a car ... maruti must be proud to be the makers of such a beauty ... amazing engine , at 100kmph you hardly even feel the car moving ... pulls like zoomer .... but its slightly hard to manage in the city traffic because of its bulging back an nill visibility of the rear veiw mirror at the center .... the abs breaks rock big time ... the most spoken about drawback about the swift beein its hopless breaking system , this really proves otherwise with its spot breaks ... the  music system is defenitely not bad if u can do with a subwoofer it makes a beauty more beautiful .... the big car feel in the car gives u a real secure feeling an the air bags with tension adjusted seat belts add to your safety as well .... not to mention the automatic climate control can make u shiver in the peak of summers ... the only disadvantage of this little beast is that it is indeed thirsty on the city traffic it cannot manage anything more than 10 especially with the wider tyres in this varient but for such a beauty i seriously think this can be compramised ... its competiters the i10 an fabia .. i10 is far behind in the very refinment of the engine that the swift provides , an can defenitely be considered a segment lower an now coming to fabia this is defenitely a class above as a car but the brand though it provides the status symbol its service , maintenence cost make it take a back seat ... fabia is an amazing car but not a practical one but the swift is a perfect allrounder .... an zxi adds spice with its rockin feature list .... maruti u really have a fan this little babe is my hot fauvorite among all my cars i frankly find it more refined than even the best sellin honda city or the hot feista ...
