If you want me to rate the car I will rate 4.5 out of 5. I am giving 0.5 extra to Diesel Model SWIFT VDi. I was thinking to go for SWIFT VXi but finally I took VDi. And now I am thinking I did a grate choice by choosing the VDi. The very first day I drove the car I feel thrill seeing its Pickup. It has dam raw power. Once if you try Swift, I think you hardly try other car in its class. In High Way I touched 120 and you can’t feel the speed as the ground grip of the car is too good. Over all it is Value for Money.

      Mileage- 21 with AC

Pickup – Feel the Raw power

Leg Space- 3.8 Out of 5

      Look& Feel- Exterior 4.5 out of 5

                              Interior 4 out of 5

You can put Alloy wheel and get good ground grip and little bit mileage change, it will be more. If you want to put Music System with Woofer then you may miss the luggage space as the woofer will take the place. The door speaker and rear speaker will give good effect without woofer.

Hope I gave almost all information for a buyer and who want to Join Swift Family.

      You can mail me- asitishere@yahoo.com

Good Fuel ecomony and u can feel the raw power.Seat Height can't be adjusted.

Exterior Looks brilliant, curves are excellent, it gives a very rich look.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The most drawback of the car what i feel are the features.Maruti gives nothing in it's, Base variant for a 5 lac car. Apart from a good a/c it has nothing to offer. No central locking, no power winows which are a must.Space inside is not large but satisfactory. As a driver I feel very comfortable in driving it.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 1200cc Engine is excellent ,good pickup, amazing driving experience.

Ride Quality & Handling Amazing ride quality.

Final Words If you are looking a good car performancewise there is no comparison to it. When I first took it for a long drive, I enjoyed every bit of it.It never looked I was driving a hatchback. It has a very good grip on the ground even at a speed of 100 plus. It has no maintenance at all & parts are readily available. So overall makes it a demanding car that is why it has a waiting of 3 months.

Areas of improvement It should give some more features as some other brands are giving at such a competitive price.

good engine, excellent performancenot many features

After much researching, finally got my hands on the beauty - Swift VDi is all shining armor. First look and you know this is the car for me and once I test drove it, fell in love with it. Booked mine on 9th June 2008 and got the delivery within 9 days on 18th June 2008.

      Dealer: Rohan, Noida
The folks@ Rohan were a little careless and did not pay attension however the sales exective was very helpful and kind, he ensured that I would get the car within 10 days and so I did. Glad I didn’t have to wait like the rest.
      Cost: 5.63L on Road
First Feel: Being my first Car, I took great pleasure driving my little beatuty out of the showroom. When I drove it - I could feel the superior Fiat Altec3 Multijet Engine churn out power under the hood. The 75 horses lives up to my expectations. The torque on this babe is an amazing 190nm which is far ahead of the rest in its class.
I had to be very careful when pressing the accelerator - the car simply wants to take off. The sad part however is that the engineers @ Maruti suggest you to drive it within 2000rpm or 70kmph for the first 1000kms. So why is it the sad part??? Well the turbo kicks in @ 2000rpm and then its the open road and the others cars can get a good good at your car's rear - coz it takes off totally.
VDi is running one of the most advanced compact diesel engines in the world. As it features on the Fiat Punto as well in Europe and will be seen in India soon. I would say the engine noise is surely higher when compared to its Petrol counterpart(about 15-20% louder) but dont mind that because of the driving pleasure totally compensates for this. You cant expect to compare a diesel engine with a pertrol - not happening. My VDi is giving me an amazing 17.5kmpl average in Delhi with ac on about 70% of the time. Just for the record - I have clocked just 600 kms yet. Just waiting for the first service before I take her out on the highway to end of the road...for a long trip. I was told me that after the first service the average should touch 19kmpl and after 2nd service - about 20 in city.
Body noise is going to set in no matter VXi or VDi. But can be fixed on service by putting in dampers etc.
Diesel has its own advantages over petrol:
      - its meant to driven longer and at steady speeds without much effect to the engine (engine is designed to take stress)
      - Running cost - though slightly higher than petrol (about 20-25% more than petrol) however the low fuel costs compensate for it
      - Noise is slightly more then petrol but with the ac on and stereo playing "no difference"
      - advantage of Diesel is that it comes packed with a Turbo charger and intercooler. An awesome multilet common rail diesel engine indeed. Won the Engine of the yr award in UK 2005. Turbo charger kicks in at 2000rpm and wow is all I can say. The car feels like a sports car suddenly. Very very peppy and responsive engine.
      - VXi Torque 113nm | VDi torque is a woooping 190nm (you know the difference when u push the peddle)
      - Petrol will give an average of 10-12 in city while the diesel should give 18-20kmpl in city
      - Petrol servicing @ 5000 kms. Diesel servicing @ 10,000kms each
For running 1000 kms per month VXi @ 11 kmpl & VDi @ 18 kmpl lets see the cost difference:
      VXi -> (1000/11) x 54 (cost of Premium Petrol@Delhi) = 4909
      VDi -> (1000/18) x 37 (cost of Premium Diesel@Delhi) = 2055
      Difference: 2853/- Per Month Saving
VDi is 75k more expensive than VXi - Difference in finance amount (loan EMI per month) is 1688/-
      You Save: 1165rs

      Now the best part ->
      Standard VDi
      Power: 75 bhp
      Torque: 190 nm
      Top Speed: 170 km/hr
      0-100 - 12.5 seconds

With a Pete's Digital Tuning Box (costs 10k in US & 30k in India)
Power goes up to: 92 bhp
      Torque goes upto: 212 nm
      Top Speed: 192 km/hr
      0-100 - 9.5 seconds
Wallah - you cant do this magic with any other car in this segment. Basically you can beat a Camry with your VDi.

Handling - simply amazing. However I think its good to have 185 tyres with alloys - improves handling by a good 25%. Cost for Allows + 185 tyres Michelin should be 22-24k

Cars which featured on my List of options:
Hyundai Getz: Naaah. Not enough oomph when compared to the Vdi. Average is pathetic. And the car is more expensive than Vdi + maintenance is on the higher side. But features a very refined engine. not as peppy as a swift vdi but refined.
Aveo: Very nice car. Great interiors and built quality. 1.6 engine is a boon. But outta my budget :(
Fabia: Ooo the debut car of this year. Spacious but a small 1.2L engine aint powerful as VDi. Price: almost 7L OMG!!!

      Problems / Issues:
      1. Cabin Noise
      2. Plastic quality
3.Out of the box Looks, Fuel Economy, OOMPH Factor, Low Maintenance, Ride QualityLow quality plastic interiors, fragile bumpers, a tad bit stiff suspension & cabin noise

I have bought my ZXi in may 2008. Done 3500 kms and am very happy to have bought it.

My criteria for deciding was- self driving, max 1500 kms per month mainly on highways. Driving pleasure and comfort, practicality and reliability.

This is a fun car to drive- though a bit unwieldy in city driving as you  cannot figure out how big it is from the inside. Take it on the highway and you will be singing! A real pleasure to drive.

I have been getting very impressive mileage on highway driving- 15 kms/ litre with AC on and touching speeds upwards of 110 kms/hr, but of course only 2 of us in the car and minimal luggage.

It is extremely comfortable inside- the suspension is absolutely superb. The potholes and bumps on the road seem to disappear. The downside is that tackling curves can be quite an experience. Another downside- The height adjustment feature on the driver's seat is not well designed. Try driving 200 kms with the seat on high position-........ Shall we say that this is not a car for short persons!

Steering is quite positive though a little hard to control (one needs to be involved all the time with the steering wheel) inspite of power steering. I wonder if Maruti Suzuki have drawn up specs for wheel alignment based on the VXi which has smaller tyres and forgotten the ZXi. The recommended tyre pressures are different for the  record.

Side and rear visibility are an issue more so for new drivers. Inspite of having learnt driving on Ambassadors and Fiats, I find reversing and parking a bit of a pain in the Swift.

Initially I had a lot of trouble with the car in city traffic as it used to stall at low speeds. Have got used to it over time. Low end torque is pretty bad- one needs to use the gears frequently to get the most out of the Swift. The gearshift, by the way, could be a lot better- even the Santro scores better on this aspect.

On the highways there is the small problem with the gear ratios. The engine power really kicks in after 3000 rpm which is fine for the 1st 2nd and 3rd gears. Acceleration is simply superb! You need to be a racer to do 3000+ rpm in 4th as you will be doing 100-110 kmph!

Before choosing the Swift I looked at other cars too.  Ford and Chevrolet knocked themselves out (service issues). Tata and Fiat were not in my plan of things. As for the Korean cars the Verna was too high priced, and in any case the ride quality is suspect for all Korean models. (I had a Santro and still have a Matiz).

Apart from the car there are a lot of positives for the Swift- after sales service from the dealer and Maruti Suzuki is simply superb.
Not only Singh is Kinng but customer too! Service points are very conveniently located and personnel very friendly and obliging.

In short this is very much a driver's car with many features and some shortcomings- but very good value for money

Excellent suspension, Smooth and powerful engine, Great fun to drive.Very uncomfortable driver's seat especially if you raise the height. Bad visibility.

Exterior Not good. When Swift was new it looked good but it has come dated now.i10 got upgrade in Late-Sept 2010 and at 29th Nov Swift can get a facelift.Rear has been revamped and is better.Got a Red One,better than my Petrol Swift in Black.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors look cluttured.Atleast must get Blue like Ritz and Alto K10.But gets lot of features.Space is better than i10,more comfortable. But rear seat is great for kids.Ornage Backlighting is funky. But New i10 and i20 's refreshing blue sweeps it away into junk!!!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is Diesel and is BS-4.And it has better FE than Petrol,21.71 Kpl.Gearshift is great and is better than Swift in Petrol.

Ride Quality & Handling Handling is good but ride is too choppy and more choppier than the less choppy ride of New i10.

Final Words Buying Swift is a good idea but go for i10,Vista,Micra or the big Punto (Emotion 1.2) and i20 (Kappa Sportz for 5Lakh.)or Beat.It is great for singles.i20 is better than Swift.Poor car.But its grillis great and modern.Great i10, i20 but. Fabia Ambiente and Polo Trendline are good too.

Areas of improvement Listed In Con List. Looks and Rear seats.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors is not worth and shockers have lesss life thes are the only point where swift lacks.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox It is very fine car and can compared with altis. neglecting the interiors.

Ride Quality & Handling It is stable at the speed of 150 km/hr and have gr8 handeling. I travel about 180 km a week

Final Words I alredy have a Swift, altis, and linea n most prefferable to me is swift. I use swift mostly for long drive and till now it havent created any problems. i bought it on August 30 ,2007 and it has runned about 90000 km. But still a gr8 performer and giving mileage of about 20km/l in diesel. tht is the reason why I use it for long drives. it is a self driven car.

Areas of improvement In new model the they should surely they need to work on iteriors otherwise new model will fail.

fuel efficient CAR n can simply compete with other cars for same segment.it is just the interior look...and the shockers.

I own a Swift VDI and have clocked 17000 kms and been a year since I got the car. The car was picked up from ABT Maruti in Chennai (the service sucks big time). I ‘ve had black emissions from the beginning throughout my ride esp. on throttle, till date there has been nothing done about it. No one ever tried to address the issue in service. My mileage was superb in the beginning 17.5 kmpl in city with the AC on, all of a sudden the mileage dipped at 14000 kms to 13.5-14 kmpl. Suddenly all the people who told me that the standard mileage in city is 18 kmpl seemed to have changed statements quoting “the stability of mileage will be known only 10000 kms and 14-13.5 kmpl is a very good mileage". I never understood how this could change all of a sudden, this has never happened to my previous cars, (I have owned over cars 15 cars over the years). I feel the hype around the waiting period is just to say that Maruti is overselling the product and a selling gimmick. I have gone in for my new car the Hyundai Verna CRDI.  I had d’zire as an option until I went back in time to all what I had gone through with Maruti. The service and the car with Hyundai is simply Awesome, Since Hyundai is going to be concentrating on the low cost diesel mid size and sedan (they have learnt after pricing the Getz a bit higher) they are going to be ruling the car market soon in the diesel segment. I am sure will not go in to ABT Maruti again. MARUTI Guys if you are listening monopoly period is over. Look at the players entering the market (can you believe off late even Honda is offering discounts), concentrate on your customers for retention. I don’t understand that when there is completion in the market how come Maruti is sitting back. Is it because they are taking people for granted?

I got delivery of my LDI on 28th Feb 08 after 3 month of booking. It has clocked 5000 kms and I have incurred the only cost of engine oil for two services.

Although there are a few cons of the vehicle such as hard suspension, less rear visibility, the pross supersede them.  I had taken the vehicle on a long drive from Mumbai to Kolhapur via Sangli and back after first service. I drove the vehicle at 120 kms on Expressway and it was steady and no wobles. For overtaking - just press the accelerater and it whrooooms even in top gear & no need to down shift the gear. I never felt lack of engine power, AC, brake. Clutch and Power Steering are very smooth. Turning radius is amazing. We don't feel engine noise and vibrations inside the car. AC is very powerful. Spacewise it is ok for average sized family. So far no problem. I feel proud of owing LDI in the present rising cost of fuel because on one hand there is price difference of Rs.17.00 in the Speed Petrol and Turbojet Diesel and on the other hand you get 50% more milege than the Petrol car. With a new technology and refined engine the fear of huge expenditure on diesel engine maintenance has also gone, but this will proove only after the vehicle clocks more than 75000 kms. Let us believe the latest technology of DDIS.

I got 21kmpl on long drive with AC and 17kmpl in city with ACHard suspension, less rear visibility

I was looking to change my existing car Santro and buy a new one, it was decided long time ago that I will go for the Swift. And Last month the day came and I got a brand new Swift VXI, sporty red. I tried out Fabia, Chevrolet UVA, but this is a mean machine.

There are so many plus points in this car...I have driven number of cars in the last 10 years, but didn't come across such mixture of all. The Swift is really unique, it has a strong engine, amazing looks, while driving you feel you are the safest on the road (sometimes you feel like you are sitting in armoured vehicle), the dashboard has a white light background while looks classy at night. The car reaches 0 to 100 in no time, and has amazing grip to the road even on the deadliest turns.

The power steering, the braking, the air conditioner works extremely well....the fuel economy is a cool 14 kmpl both city and highway drive with the AC on level 2, my drive to the office daily includes 15km of highway and 5 km of city drive.

The interiors of the Swift could have been done a bit better, they could have put some bright lights for the arm controls for the central locking and power windows, to a new driver who has just given up his Santro, which has an amazing pick up...the Swift does not perform well...as it takes some time to get into that swing as soon as you have pressed the brakes. But an experienced driver will just know how to play with the baby, with some gear shift this thing flies.

The body of the Swift is too good as it does not let outside noise...not even the noise of friction of the tyres enter the cabin as it gently slides away with ease.

In all the Car is one best thing that Suzuki has given to the customer....

I only repent that I should have gone for the Disel version....but it was out of reach for me at this point of time cost wise.

Amazing Sporty Looks, Comfortable Fuel Economy, Superb HandlingInteriors Could Have Been Better..., Pick Up.

Exterior Cool Exterior for this Car, Bought a White Colour Car. Which I feels like I need to Add some Extra like the Spoilers, Wider Tyres,Alloys to give it a Muscular Feel, Once if give it What it basically demands it's the "KING" of Hatches. I hope the New swift will Rule the Road once it is Launched.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Full Black, Dull looking Interior once you come back to this Car from I20-U'll fell that you have selected a Wrong Car. But on the Whole, this car is Ok. Where Swift Exels the other Car is in this Area(Power).

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Greater Engine. I Always love the Way the Car Pulls in it's 2nd and 3rd Gear. Lovely Pull, that you can only enjoy in some High Costly Cars.Lovely Lovely Performance, what else do you all expect me to say. I am a Big fan of Maruti Suzuki and always wanted them to be in the Top. So am looking forward for the New SX4 Diesel. I am getting aroung 18-20 Km/l with AC On, I hope I'll get 21-22 if i allow my father to Drive which will never happen if am with Him. With AC ON I drive the Car till the rpm reaches the Red Line by mistake many times, which will give you how far the Car is insulated from the Engine Noise.

I am getting little bit worried about the Gear Change from 1st to 2nd.I personally feel Difficult to Change as I am used to Drive only cars without Slick Gear Shift. But you will enjoy the Gear Shift on the Whole. Gear Knob is the Place where i keep my hand all the time when i drive and it is Perfect. More Perfect in the RITZ, to be frank.

Ride Quality & Handling Good Quality of Ride can be Experienced. Handling is the Area where i feel the Car Exels. you can feel the Tyres of the Car where it is. Nice handling which you can feel when you drive it in the Hills, mostly. When you Drive you  will not feel how Big the Car is.It always gives you a feel that you are driving a much Smaller Car.

Final Words Buy 1 and you will never Regret your Whole Life but Give it the Little Extra wat it Demands!!!

Areas of improvement Looking forward for the New Swift to Rule the Roads.
