Renault Kwid [2015-2019] User Reviews

My First Car :) Booked Renault Kwid Through Kwid App in September and Luckily got the Car on October 21 from Chandigarh.Great Looks, Good Road Presence, Definitely a Looker.

More Spacious if compared to eon and alto, comfortable Seats, Rear Seats also has sufficient Leg Room, enough space for my Family :). Did not buy the top model so no touch Screen unit (was not a necessity in my case) on the Dashboard. But still even without the that Dashboard Looks good and Simplistic.AC performance decent too but the real test will be in next Summers. Quality of Plastic used not great but not too bad either as you should expect in a 3 lac car. Music Lovers will need an upgrade as the music System performance just OK.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Have driven 600kms by Now and getting a mileage of around 18-19 in city and 23-24 on highways - so no complaints here. Only annoying thing is the engine noise when it starts- but yes once on the move the noise doesnt creep into the cabin.Gear shifting is easy, Steering light and easy to manouvre. Driving uphill is a bit challenging (Thats where you feel its an 800 cc car after all) initially but once you know how to use  the controls its not that Hard (My Experience :P).

Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is up to the mark, highground clearance does make its presence felt - helping u drive over with small potholes and obstructions with ease.

Final Words A Beautiful Car with decent performance.

Areas of improvement Engine noise needs to be reduced.

Ground Clearance , Looks , Mileage , Drive Quality , SpaceEngine noise slightly on higher side when Starting the Car.

Exterior Very Stylish.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior material used is very low on quality. No door open indicator. lesser rear sit space but comfortable. Front sits are very comfortable. Door closing is noisy, many a times makes metal sound while closing all doors. Feels like having no rubber.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Enginge performance is very poor and its very noisy. Requires frequent gear shifts. When we turn on AC, engine performance lowers down more, pickup becomes very low. One can not move vehicle with 2nd gear when speed lowers on breaker.

Very Bad fuel economy 13 - 15 kmpl. Company cheated on that.

Gearbox is not smooth. Gets locked sometimes when shifting to 5th gear.

Ride Quality & Handling Both are good, but suspensions are bad. Sometimes on bad roads, it feels like riding in taxy.

Final Words A vehicle with excelent look but very poor performance.

Areas of improvement Fuel Economy, Engine noise, performance, pick-up when AC on, suspension, interiors.

substandard quality of Kwid

I am Seby in Mysore. I bought a Renault Kwid RXL car in December 2015.

1. The steering had noise which was dismantled in the showroom and was rectified with some spray.

2. Handbrake was replaced.

3. Rear door rubber beading was replaced.

4. Oil sump was replaced

5. Oil filter was replaced twice!!

6. Underarms/forearms were replaced.

7. Shock absorber was replaced

8. Accelerator pedal was replaced.

9. Keeping in rain for some time will get the car 3 inches water on the floor of the car, that was anyway rectified, they say!!!

10. Under body silencer was replaced

11.Key barrel is yet to be replaced.

12. Within 30K kilometers, the brake pads had to be replaced twice!!!. 

13. Body parts are too delicate, even a knock from a distance of one foot can make the car behave like touch-me-not plant. 

14. The engine sound to the cabin is unacceptable. (not a major issue)

15. AC gas was reloaded (even with very very minimal use of AC)

16. Mud guards are too poor, not of any quality.

17. The wheels were removed and refitted many times which really makes the wear and tear of the car faster than normal.
18. Since the body is so thin, even a light impact can cause unimaginable damage.
19. Customer care does not respond properly
20. The car for any minor repair will be mishandled, will cause more harm than repair.

21. They dirtied the roof of the car during the first service, told they would rectify it in the following service, but they dirtied it more.

Exterior: Looks baby Duster & eye catchy on the road

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): Much better in this segment but can't compare with Swift, I20 or other premium hatchbacks 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Very noisy engine (almost similar to Tata Nano), gearbox is hard, Fuel Economy is getting about 15-16 on highway right now, hope it should get tuned after 1st service (asper Renault showroom guys), Pickup goes down drastically if 3-4 passengers inside while AC is on, not good pulling in 2nd gear, you have to move this car from 1st gear only! even single seating inside.

I would suggest to go for RXT model which comes with power windows, do switch off AC every 20-30min to get better mileage / pick up 

Ride Quality & Handling: Good

 Final Words: Worth money go for it (this is my 1st renault so not sure of after sales response from showroom / spares)

Exterior New and fresh looks are GOOD and make us feel Kwid is stylish car almost like a mini SUV.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) More passenger room, more elbow room etc. Steering wheel, horn switch location are very comfortable. Inierior plastics and trims are just so , so. Mudd and dust accumulates below the door bottom and body floor.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox HIGH ENGINE NOISE, Kicking of gear lever felt during gear shifting. Fuel kmpl is about 14.5 and is still under observation. Engine pinking noise while moving off at slow engine speeds compels the driver to rev up the engine more than what is required for moving off in 1st gear.

Ride Quality & Handling Suspension is really good and gentle but  POOR RIDE QUALITY DUE TO JERKING, KICKING AND GALLOPING EFFETCS, FEAR OF ACCIDENTS WHILE MOVING CLOSELY DURING TRAFFIC JAMS make the passengers feel uncomfortable, unsafe. Otherwise handling is very easy due to its high ground clearence, soft pedals, soft steering etc.

Final Words If this jerk problem is resolved, Instrument Cluster issues are addressed Kwid will be superb in its class.

Areas of improvement Engine noise reduction, removal of defects viz. jerking and kicking effects, Instrument Cluster quality, reliability etc.

Exterior look, ground clearence, soft pedal controls, easy monouverability.JERKY RIDE WITH KICKING AND GALLOPING EFFECTS MAKE CAR TRAVEL UNCOMFORTABLE. AT TIMES CREATES A FEAR

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very cheap parts used like Piagio Auto.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Except fuel economy everything is like auto, spcly noise of engine and gear is also not comfortable.

Ride Quality & Handling Can't use AC and this is confirmed by service center peoples.

Final Words Engine is very noisy, can't use AC while driving. Suspension is not good although ground clearance is good but when four people ride at time it touches the ground. Final word I had Maruti Alto prior to this car; that was far better than this. And now I feel I did mistake by choosing Renault as my colleagues told me not to take any western car. It is always good to take Japanese car like Maruti.

Yesterday, I was driving from Agra to Chandigarh. When reaching Noida via Yamuna Expressway, check engine warning light came up and some different sound was coming from the engine... I was having ELM327 obd adaptor, I plugged it in the obd port and connected it with my smartphone via Bluetooth. It was showing P0301 fault code. I looked in the web about the code and get to know that misfire occuring in cylinder 1 inside engine. Somehow I reached Chandigarh and get the car to service centre next day. They thought that engine need to be opened and repaired. They said that piston rings, piston, head etc. May be damaged... And the total estimate they made is 35000-40000. They said that it is not covered under warranty because the vehicle is CNG Fitted... This is very bad experience with kwid.

 Its over all Good. But back side bumper is placed quite higher and gap between tier and body is huge.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

 Dashboard board finishing is poor its does not looks a new car. When i drive and when i look into the dash board its looks like i am driving a old car. Also there have no Handle at the top of front door. Space is perfect as per car price. If you travel long by sitting with back seat it will make you tired.  

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

I drove with 120 KM/hr with extreme comfort.But when you will  drive with more than 100 then there will have some sound with engine which you can feel even if you close windows.within 2 months i have completed 5000 kms but some sounds like low break oil is coming up.

Highway i am getting 20 -23 and in city i am getting 10-12 still.

 but i am geeting better experiene rather than my old Suzuki Wagon r .

 Interior must need to be improved. Also engine sounds must needs to be improved.

Really it's a best car in this process segment infact not only for price it's actually like a sub car soft driving great performance and braking is too good the car is awesome don't think much just go for it and buy it steering is cool very soft in gear shifting really Renault is good specially kwid is just great
