    DRIVING:

Swift, the usher of the era of trendy hatchbacks in india, has been a consistent winner for maruti's stable ever since it was introduced in the indian market. The car is liked by everyone who is ready to look beyond the conventional sedans & small cars. Combine that with the 1.3L petrol or 1248cc diesel runner and you've got yourself a car that is loved by all for the money that it's worth & much more than that too. Recognised as the practical car for city & highway driving alike, it has the ability to maneouvre the tight corners as well as cruise steadfast on the indian highways.

The flipside however, is the space that it offers on the inside. Not enough legroom & headroom in the rear part of the cabin is something that all passengers crib about. Though a good runner on the highway, swift's suspension would start acting up if it's put through a bit of rumble & tumble of the great indian highways. The plastic work inside feels rather tacky as it does not give you the same value-for-money feeling that the rest of the package does.

Where the swift actually scores a lot of points is the much loved indian metric, the mileage per litre of fuel. While the petrol plant delivers a healthy 13kmpl (overall), it's the diesel engine that seems to perform by sipping (instead of gulping) fuel at a great 15kmpl (overall). Maruti did the smartest thing by delighting the masses with the great efficiency & adding cool looks that appeal to the urban & semi-urban users alike, to create another winner from their stable. And to add the icing to the cake, they kept the price tag just right for the modern day indian family to afford it.

In a nutshell, with the great mileage, right pricing, low maintenance & trendy looks on its side, swift outscores the rest of the competition and then add the reliability of the maruti service network to the exciting package and you can see the smiles on the maruti bosses as it has swiftly taken over the competition & reached the 300,000 cars mark.

Good style. Trendsetter for hatchbacks in the indian market.Passenger space on the lesser side
