My first mistake ( can call it a fortune too ) is too go to Honda Showroom to check the Honda Jazz, when I was shortlisting hatchback cars. I zeroed in a lot of cars including Punto, Swift, Ritz, Figo, Fabia and many more ( Diesel too ). One day it stiked me that Honda Jazz is available after the new price slash. So decided to step into Honda to check the car. Below is my overall experience of the car including Test drving.

Exterior Amazing curves, little Innova, big windshields make it look like glass house, a car which makes heads to turn about your way. Loved it ! Fell in love with the car @ first sight. The car would look great with Albaster Silver with Black tint glasses ( My own assumption !) Nothing to say more as it gives a feel of a great car which is worth to spend money on. Little shy of a sedan

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) There goes the first touch to open the door. This time I felt little disappointed with the door handlers. They were too light and made of very cheap plastics, which did not give me the pleasure of opening a Honda car. My cousin was with me and he was also very disappointed with the feel of the door handlers. Ofcourse the first impression is the best impression. Opened the door and took a comfortable seat in the cockpit and shut the door. Now the premium door shut speaks of Honda.Wow ! What an amazing cockpit. Sleek, stylish, sedan class cockpit, which no other Hatchback ( even I20 !) have it. The steering mounted control was the best I loved it. The steering was very smooth like churning butter. All the controls are within the reach. The ultimate JBL speakers hits my heart with heavy bass. But still I hear only to Heavy metal rock songs like A7X, System of a down where Bass is not important. But this music system made me feel the need of the bass effecr. Next comes the ODO and the other indicators behind the steering. Lot of options, fuel indicator, Distance to empty, Range, Instant Fuel consumption indicator. And there came the time to turn my head back to see what it has got interms of space. Space..Spaceee..Spaceeee.. ( Echo sound ! ). The space inside Jazz is also best in class in Hatchback segment. Comfortable 3 ppl seating space behind with lot of leg room. Rear recliner seat ( Not to that great extent like semi-sleeper ). And one more noticeable thing was you can throw your bottles, cans and watever stuff you may carry inside any of the 9 bottle holders and the two big glove boxes. And the comfort of the front seats hugs you and asks you more to drive.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Asked the guy to give a test drive and here we go. The biggest shame came to me when I tried to start the engine when the engine was already ON ( OMG !!! ) Cant believe the engine was on. Its Honda, the refined 1.2 iVtec speaks about itself. That was the time I boasted about Honda to my cousin. And I hit the clutch and threw the first gear. Silky smooth and felt like running your spoon across the hot butter. And the engine started to move. Felt great to move the Honda, gained little speed and there goes the second one. And here I would really like to say to all fellow readers. Dont compare a Honda engine with VDI, DDIS engines thinking that you will be thrown back when you hit 2k RPM. It's petrol engine and most important, refind Honda. It has its own class. Do not desecrate the class of Honda engine comparing with the high torque diesel engines. No offence ! The Jazz was rolling nice smooth with ample low end torque needed. As Honda Jazz is a revv-happy engine, revving is a great pleasure and also the sound of the revv hitting your ears like a bee humming in your ears.

    0 - 100 kmph Acceleration : Takes quite time( Around 13 secs )

Pull Power : Enough torque to drive the engine and my fellow mates in the back seat felt the pull

    Top Speed : 170 Kmph ( Assumption ! )

Driving Style : Sedate driving suits well for this car, nonetheless suits an enthusiast too

ABS + EBD : Excellent feature, loved to break more times in the city.

Overall : Very good driving in City and suits sedate drivers in the highway

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality was premium. No second thought to doubt that. Handling was great in parking speeds than @ high speeds as Honda loves to make the speed felt. The concern was about the ground clearance. Reckless drivers will hit the belly of the car @ any bumps. And needs careful attention to roll the wheels across the bumps and potholes. Not great suspension but was quite comfortable.

Final Words To put down my final words I need to make this space clear.

Sedate drivers: These drivers will love the premium, quality, silky smooth handling and steering, features and nonetheless to say the symbol of Honda ahead of their cockpit

Enthusiasts and Drive Crazies: These drivers will definitely feel the pinch when Jazz rolls on the highways. Jazz doesnot provide noticeable torque and you need to drive with great pleasure to overcome the time it takes to go beyound the 100-120 kmph curve.

Areas of improvement Honda Jazz would have been a great car, if it comes with the 1.4 variant like in rest of the other countries. However this car is designed keeping in mind the Indian roads and the mileage. And also the mileage indicator of Jazz always show 1.5 kmpl greater than the real. Don't know why it is but I some how figures it out.

    Happy Miles :))))

*This post is based upon my very own view.

Noticable Head turners, Honda Cockpit, Great Music system ( JBL), ABS, Airbags in all variantsGround clearance and the wanting for 1.4 iVtec like in rest other countries
