2018 BMW X2 photo gallery

The BMW X2 is the latest addition to the carmaker's X range of cars. The new crossover was recently unveiled, which looks similar to the X1 with a fastback roofline. It will now accompany the X1, X3, X5 and X6 SUVs in the automaker's range of cars. It is expected to go on sale globally in the first half of 2018. And since we will only be able to see it in flesh after that, let’s take a look at this picture gallery for now.

Even if it looks a lot like the X1, the X2 has carved itself the impression of being a sportier SUV. It's not just because of its looks, but the performance figures too.

Firstly, the sportier credentials are laid emphasis on by the compact size. It's 3.2 inches shorter than the X1, and more importantly, 2.8 inches lower. 

And even if it will be hard for you tell the difference between the X1 and the X3, the X2 has many things going for it. Yes, even if the wheelbase remains identical to the X1.

The new coupe design is dynamic, elegant and sporty like the other BMW siblings. However, this one gets a lower roof line like the MINI or the Range Rover Evoque.

The new BMW X2 shares the UKL1 front-wheel drive platform with the BMW X1 and the new MINI Countryman. No wonder then there's a front- and four-wheel drive option too.

Up front, the kidney grille is inverted. The ‘hoffmeister’ kink has been slightly reworked and sports the BMW roundel logo on both C-pillars.

The cabin too looks similar to the BMW X1. But the new changes are to emphasize on style keeping in mind to appeal to younger BMW buyers.

The car is packed with a lot of latest tech including a wifi hotspot and smartphone wireless charging too. You can pair your phone up with Apple CarPlay, however, Android Auto isn't available yet.

Amongst the various driver assistance systems, there is a colour head-up display too. The 6.5-inch touchscreen navigation system can be upgraded to an 8.8-inch one from the wide list of options.

There's a new shift lever too, which we think will make it to the X1 as well. But that's when it gets dual-clutch transmissions.

There will only be one model at first in the form of the diesel-powered X2 xDrive20d. It produces 190bhp of power and 400Nm of torque.

This all-wheel drive powertrain is capable of a 0-100kmph sprint time in 7.7 seconds with a top speed of 220kmph.

The car is expected to go on sale in the international markets early in 2018. It will then include the X2 sDrive20i, X2 sDrive18d and the X2 xDrive18d trims as well.
