Hello, Have been driving a the skoda ocatavis 1.9 TDi for the last year or so. Well to begin with the car is fantasticly built. it sticks to the ground at high speeds, never do you once feel it is becoming unstable. The front seats are very very comfortable which is good for the driver especially on long drives. Great leg room.(no electronic seats in this variant) The engine is quite powerful, touches 140 in no time. those of us who are not used to driving such powerful vehicles have to make sure you do not overspeed on long winding roads, the built is so good that it gives you no idea of speed. Power steering is also perfectly set, not too light. The tires are also quite good. suit the cars needs. The doors open wide, easy entry and exit. Let me warn you, the Air-conditioning is amazingly powerful, have set to set it on medium even in the hot afternoon. Speed setter for wipers in the intermediate mode, works for me, also the small display in the dashboard, tells you about the avg. speed, time since car started, etc etc. good fun for the curious minds. Yes it does give the 17-19 kmpl on the highways. also 13-15 in the city, if diven well. unreal fuel economy. The whole car is great, just cudve have thrown in the elctronics seats, ABS , the goodies, as available in some cars of the same class. The legroom in the rear is the only real shortcoming of a car worth 12lakhs. Not bad, but u wished you had a litle more. again, fuel economy is excellent for a car of this size and built plus has a powrful Turbo 1.9 litre diesel engine. Also you are recommended to put regular diesel, not the enhanced ones. Overall worth the money 100%great fuel economy, robust built, comfortable, very sturdy, powerful a/cleg room space in rear is less, decent interiors,

It's build quality is Amazing. No any cars are made now in this segment like Octavia rider 2000-2010. Car is too spacious and comfortable. Little bit heavy in city on and highway it's a king i am love in it...

      Hi,

My 2008 1.9 L Diesel Octavia Rider has been sparingly used - 35K kms done in 9 years.

All of a sudden, on a drive in Bangalore, it spluttered with heavy emission of white fumes, & engine vibration & noise. The car had no previous history of these symptoms. (Previously, it has driven smoothly & powerfully with the only minor issues being need to change brake pad, oils etc).

Now doing it's time in a Service station, the suspicion around faulty fuel injector, to issues around the engine are being investigated.

Another issue encountered is rodent biting through wires in the bonnet - that has been a recurring issue - this has led to electricals  - A/c, indicators not working as a result.

Can anyone help with their similar experience with Skoda Octavia & how they resolved this issue. Who is the best mechanic to help in this situation.

Overall, the Skoda ASS seem inconsiderate - when it comes to trying to resolve this issue methodically & efficiently - they're money minded & want to maximise their bom estimate.

      Thanks,

      Vivek.

Smooth & powerfulPoor, expensive after-sales service

I have been using octavia rider since 4 years.

      Robust machine, excellent mileage.

It is dream car for highway users because of very good safety features & mileage.

      Bit heavy for city use.

But always check the reputation of dealer in your city.As aftersales  service is utmost important for your peace of mind.

Very good fuel economy around 20 to 25 Km / L in diesel on highways, Feels like you are in a vaultLess leg room in the rear, Poor & irresponsible service back up

Great car, difficult to get spare parts. There is a lack of enthusiasm on the part of skoda dealers to service or repair this car. Most of the dealers who sell skoda cars have multiple car agencies, such as Volvo, BMW etc, & their focus is primarily on selling those other vehicles. The distributors of skoda should ensure that only those agencies are hired who's primary interest is in Skoda.

I have been driving this car for 16 months now and have found it reliable and sturdy. The disadvantages of this car is that it does have a problem on third gear at speeds reduced to twenty km and tends to stall. The pickup is phenomenal and leave the rest of the pack way behind. I cannot understand though why the manufacturers insisted on using a stick-on label on either wing to identify the car as a Rider. if they had to identify it a small embossed shield or an indicative logo would have done the trick in a classier way. Also what is the logic of the name 'Rider'? It makes no sense. It may have been a better idea to make the doors easier to open from inside. they are heavy and feel as if one is opening a submarine hatch. Ladies particularly find it difficult to exit without help - which could be the intention. A good touch would have been to use a lever instead of a turnwheel to recline the seat. It can be awkward to adjust the angle while seated at the wheel. Finally servicing is a real problem. When needed one has to drive in and leave the car at the other end of town (Hyderabad) wait for six hours before they ask you to come and collect it. A pick up and drop would have been much better. This car is a driver's joy and is far better driven by the owner than an employee so it makes no sense to be forced to employ a driver just to drop it in for servicing and picking it up thereafter. Overall its a fantastic car and great value for moneyFuel economy, styling, ride and airconditioningrear seat legroom, turnwheel operation for seat reclining, a lever would be better
