Market has decided that used tata cars should not be bought, I am a rebel and having driven 2 indicas ( Me n My son )for total of 3,40,000 without any problems , i went ahead and bought 3 months back dicor XL Indigo. Bought a 2008 model 61000 on clock black colour ofr only rs 351000. I have used it for approx 7000 kms , problems none so far, my friend who owns a civic and audi went with me sitting at back and said bloody hell my vehicles dont have so much space at the back. ( I was cramped in the backseat of audi ) it is giving me 15kmpl in delhi and 18kmpl on highway.

New vehicle costs around 700000, i dont know why people want to pay more and still drive cramped cars. Yes only drawback with tatas is the service centers are too less compared to cars on road and attitude   of staff at centres is not too good. I am buying a quadrajet vista again second hand tommorrow, will post  details of same later.

I bought this car a year back on Gudi Padhwa day after checking Dsire and Honda City models. While the Dsire version was not liked by my wife because of inadequate legspace in the rear, Honda City was going beyond my budget of Rs 6 lacs.My family loved the interior features like rear tray, dual tower Ac etc and of course the huge rear space in Indigo Classic  I have been very happy with the performance of  the Indigo Classic petrol model over the past one year, especially the helpful dealer behaviour. However, I had on two occasions been mistaken for a commercial vehicle. The exterior could have been modified a bit from the other Indigo models to avoid this misunderstanding. The window operation also has given me some problem during the monsoons, but the dealer promptly exchanged it being in the guarantee period. On the expressway, I have been getting 12 Km with AC and 14 without AC. However, in Pune city traffic, it goes down to below 10 Km with AC. I feel this aspect needs to be improved. Overall a real good value for money.

Great rear space, boot space, grand dual cooling, smooth driveAverage fuel economy, minor defects in automatic window operations during monsoons

Exterior Excellent wedge shape, very aerodynamic, good exterior electrical.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Roomy, good legroom, good seat upholstery, nice over all.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Erratic at best, good fuel economy, poor clutch, delicate gearbox which tends to crack, clueless service back-up, spares availability challenge.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent ride, predictable handling, no roll, impossible to wheel align, even by TATA service centers.Car shall always pull left. seems to be a characteristic, with absolutely no solution to it.

Final Words Excellent purchase as a second or third car, for driving in close proximity of a TATA Service Center. An excellent R & D attempt by TATA on marketing aspect. Marketed with impunity due to no liability clauses in our law.

Areas of improvement Some change in integrity may go a long way!

Engine is ridiculously service unfriendly. Injectors are fitted very badly and invariably leaky. oil leakage is normal. Turbo function is token. seems to have no action at all. Power delivery is non- linear, erratic. coolant leakages cannot be traced. Parts which are absolutely non-value added are very expensive, or have extortionist pricing.

space, seat rake angles, ORVMsuncompromising attitude for poor quality powertrain

Yesterday, my friend Nawaz called me up to get some thoughts on buying a new car. He had been doing some research himself on the web and also been talking to his other friends. From what he had heard from his friends, he seemed to have been quite impressed by Tata Indigo XL. When he called me up, he was very upbeat and was explaining the features a lot. He asked me if I could go along with him to the Tata show room to take a test drive of the vehicle. I agreed and went to the show room with him. I had never test driven a new car and it was my first time.
Tata Indigo has petrol and and Diesel variants. In each of these variants, they have two models - Classic and Grand. At the showroom 'Grand' was there a display piece and we started inspecting while we were waiting for the executive to come and attend to us. The car looked good. At first glance, the most impressive thing about the car is the space. There is a lot of room inside. The back seat is very spacious and 3 people can sit very comfortably. Tall people won't have any problem stretching their legs when they are seated in the back seat.

Exterior Very Good Looking execuitve Car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) It is very specious and comfortable.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performace is too good DICOR 1.4 L engine is very powerfull and it has given me an average of 22 KMPL. Gear box is very strong and this car is able to climb the Saptashrungi Vani track in Nashik area which is very hard to go up, in 3rd gear with full load so you can imagine the power of DICORE engine and gearbox. DICORE engine is very smooth and no noise in the Cabin it have really improved the rich feeling while driving. Its turbo charged engine shows its magic, it can go up to a speed of 100 within a small time and road grip also very good, control is also very good.

Ride Quality & Handling Too Good.

Final Words I like this car too much.

Areas of improvement Dash Board style and color should be more rich in future product.

Good Style and Fuel Economy, Double AC vents, SpeciousLeather staring and gear grip cover feeding fatly

I purchased this car from Sanya Motors, New Delhi in December,2007 and in less than 7 months,  the car had to be taken to TATA Motors workshop four times out of which three times it had to be taken by towing the car as each time the engine developed trouble and stopped working all of a sudden. It remained in TATA Motors workshop for repairs etc. for 14 days. To sum up I would say that I am totally dissatisfied with this car performance and fed up with after Sale Service provided by TATA Motors, though they boast so much about service before you go for buying a car..  I am really repenting by buying this car.

Hope people will learn from my bitter experience with this car and TATA Motors.

I am using Indigo XL diesel from Dec. 2005 and already travelled 1,00,000 km now. I am very satisfy with the performance of the car as I had never been in trouble on highways till date due to have breakdown.  Regular 10000 km service is must. Average of my car is around 16 /17 Km/Hr. with A/C.

For long drive I suggest this car.

purchased tata indigo xl grand dicor in march 2007, for the price it was the best buy but as before (previously owned indica xl) the rubber trimmings (door)and rear hatch carpet finishing very poor. i was given to understand that this was the top end model but was surprised the absence of ABS and adjustable steering wheel, which would go very well with six way adjustable seats..Engine little more refined would have been better.to sum it all not a bad car at all. after all a tata product.     100% INDIAN.

      16.5 kpl. VERY GOOD.
