Tata Nexon facelift spied with production-ready headlamps

-This will be the first major update for the Nexon since its introduction.

-Will take cues from the bigger sibling, the Harrier, with new design elements.

-Expected to be launched around the festive season.

A prototype of the upcoming Tata Nexon facelift was spotted testing with the production-ready body under the camouflage. The test prototype was wearing scanty camouflage on the fascia while the rest of the body was sans any camo giving us a hint about what to expect with the update.

This will be the first major upgrade for Nexon since its launch in September 2017. With the update, Tata will pass on the IMPACT 2.0 design language onto the compact SUV. So we could see a sleeker pair of lights combined with a low placed large units on the fascia. As seen in the pictures here, the sleek headlamps do not match that of the Harrier, as was previously rumoured. Instead, there’s a new lighting signature here with twin-barrel design to keep things fresh. Apart from that, there’s a new single slat grille as a part of the new design. There will be projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, redesigned bonnet as well as a new air dam and fog-lights.

On the inside, we could expect new features as well. This will be done to make the Nexon more relevant amongst the newest competitors in the segment, namely the XUV300 and the Venue. So we could expect features like cruise control, new infotainment system, a digital screen on the instrument cluster and more in the revised cabin.

In terms of powertrain, the Nexon facelift is expected to include BS-VI compliant versions of the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol unit and the 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine. Tata Motors has not revealed any details although the Nexon facelift could be unveiled either around the festive season later this year. Or it might be delayed till the 2020 Auto Expo. It will continue to rival the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and the Ford EcoSport in the sub-four metre SUV segment.
