Anthony Jannarelly would go unnoticed until you find out that he’s the man who co-designed the Lykan Hypersport and the Fenyr Supersport sports cars. Now that you know who he is, here is his own design – a retro-styled sports car called the Design 1.
It is hard not to notice its similarity to the legendary American sports car – the Shelby Cobra. It’s got the same oval radiator grille, louvered fenders mounted with round headlamps, the long hood and the twin roll hoops. Look closer and you will see how the legendary design has been adopted to include modern aerodynamics like the floating front fender, the splitters both fore and aft and the generous side scoops to feed and cool the engine.
The Design 1 gets a tubular space-frame chassis hauled by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that develops about 300bhp of power. Since the car weighs only 780kg, the power-to-weight ratio catapults you to 100kmph in less than four seconds pushing it into supercar territory. The Jannarelly Design 1 is offered only with a manual gearbox with the power sent to the right set of wheels.
The car is priced at $62,000 in the United States (approx. Rs 40 lakh), which we think is not really a lot of money for something as retro and unique as the Design 1. And now that we have seen what Jannarelly has managed with the Lykan and the Fenyr, it certainly will be a lot of fun.
