In profile the Verna does looks a bit similar to the outgoing model but it gets cascading grill like on the new xcent flag by a larger headlight. The swooping coupe like roof line and rising window line are familiar trades from the older car. However, it now get gentler creases along its flanks. The new diamond cut 16 inch alloy we look smart but feel a little lost in the massive wheel arches especially at the back. Thanks to the Chunky rear bumper the bootline too feel more raised done before not only giving the backend a briefer feel but about 20 litres more boot space. The back also sees new slimmer and wider tail which retain their triangular theme. Overall it's a striking looking curve that still feels compact even though all its exterior dimensions have been marginally bumped up. Hyundai has done a great job with the interiors and the new Verna is no different. It's got a new steering wheel which has steering mounted controls taken from some of its contemporary siblings such as the i-20. The fit and finish of the interiors and everything is either made from are covered with high quality materials while nothing here is segment redefining. Hyundai has struck with their strengths and delivered interiors as pleasing to be in but has gone above and beyond when it comes to features:- •7 inch touchscreen infotainment system •Android auto/Apple carplay •projector headlights with LED drls •height adjustment seat belts •ventilated front seats •Rear privacy curtain •smart boot lid •cruise control •sunroof •6 air bags It's a real party trick which is a segment first is a voice command system which works rather well with carplay or Android auto. Another segment first feature is the cooled seats, which I am sure is highly appreciated in our weather conditions. Verna also gets a sunroof. This variant also gets 6 airbags, isofix mounts for child seats and height adjustable seat belts. Hyundai in fact also claims that this new K2 platform is extremely crashworthy, not only because of the safety features but a stronger monocoque made from high tensile strength steel. This diesel version offers upto 128hp@4000rpm and 260Nm@1500-3000rpm and has 6 speed manual. In this diesel version not much has changed with the power and torque figures. Now coming to the rear the seats are bit too low so getting in and out takes a bit of effort also the under thigh support isn't too great, also the swooping roof line and the thick headliner mean that the head room at the back might be a bit of an issue for a taller person. Hyundai has played very smartly buy pricing the Verna just below the Honda City so that giving the city a great competition. This car is overall a great deal to pitch your money in.
