Rockford Fosgate launches DSR1 audio processor, unveils demo car

Rockford Fosgate has added to their array of products available for car audio systems the DSR1, an audio processor that is a first of its kind. The DSR1 is intended to primarily enhance the audio experience of premium cars, but can be fitted to any product. 

The DSR1 is a small device that be mounted anywhere in the car - since it replaces the traditional amplifier in the car's audio system, that is the traditional mounting point for it. It integrates with the existing system, meaning all the interfaces we've come to associate with premium car audio systems (think COMAND, MMI, iDrive etc) will not be affected by its installation. It offers a total of eight RCA outs, and there is no wire splicing involved - there is an adaptor to be purchased that is unique to your car's brand or model. 

However, with the help of the PerfectTune app available for both Android and iOS devices, there is a level of control offered that would overwhelm mere mortals. It uses Bluetooth and a (relatively) simple interface to offer options over and above the standard fare like the Subwoofer level and HPF and LPF frequencies.  For example, there is a 32-point graphic equaliser for the full-range outs, the ability to generate a sound stage for the driver, front row or the rear seat via time delays to the speakers, and one can even save and export the settings for another owner of the same make and model to download and use. The pricing of ₹ 30,000 is great value, since comparable products from other audio manufacturers cost nearly twice as much. The DSR1 is available immediately across the country at Rockford Fosgate dealers.
