Nissan Kicks might be launched in India by 2017

Nissan is contemplating the launch of the Kicks for the Indian market in 2017. According to reports, the compact SUV will be sold in South American markets initially and then be introduced in our country as well.

The Kicks is based on Nissan's V-Platform that currently supports the Sunny sedan and the Micra hatchback. The new crossover will retain most of the traits from the concept like the butch stance and aggressive styling, while also gaining features from the other Nissan siblings. The Indian-spec Kicks might be powered by the 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill seen under the hood of the Renault Duster as well.

The Kicks was first unveiled at the 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show and the carmaker recently also released a teaser of the production version. The vehicle will be produced at the Resende Industrial Complex in Brasil and is expected to make its public appearance at the Olympics in August this year. South America is a market where buyers are looking for small crossovers that have a good ground clearance and look aggressive. Similar is the case with the Indian market, where the demand for such vehicles has increased as well and Nissan might cash in on the opportunity by launching the Kicks, here, soon.
