Audi A4 Review
The A4 has been one of the most popular model from the German car maker and has helped Audi build a brand for itself along with the Q7 SUV. The all-new 2016 Audi A4 made its official debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 held in Greater Noida earlier this year. This is the third generation of the Audi A4 in India.
The new car is based on the flexible MLB platform that extends all the way to the Audi Q7 SUV. While it may not look strikingly different from its predecessor right away, as you inch closer, you start seeing the subtle changes that have made the car look sharper and sporty. The latest iteration gets restyled headlamps, single-frame grille, chrome strip within the waistline, new alloy wheels, compact LED tail lamps and a sloping roofline. Overall, the different changes will bring a fresh look to the car, still following the design language and styling signature of Audi cars.
Audi has completely redesigned the centre console and the dashboard to give the new A4 a modern look. The dashboard now looks futuristic thanks to all the horizontal surfacing, elegant wood finish and matt chrome bits. The car is loaded with features including Audi’s brilliant virtual cockpit, MMI system with a touchpad, three zone climate control, wireless charging, powered front seats, electronic parking brake, reversing camera with front and rear parking sensors, ABS, ESP and eight airbags.
Initially, the new Audi A4 is being offered only the 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine. The 1395cc, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that develops 148bhp and 250Nm of torque is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox that drives the front wheels. Audi has now introduced the new 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo-diesel that develops 188bhp of power. While the double-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models, the carmaker might also introduce a new nine-speed automatic gearbox. While the A4 will be front-engine front-wheel-drive setup, the S4 will have the Quattro all-wheel-drive.
The new Audi A4 is a direct competitor of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series, Volvo S60 and the Jaguar XE in India.
