Why should you buy - Lexus LX570

The big daddy Lexus has finally been launched in India with petrol power. It’s only priced marginally lower than its diesel sibling and at Rs 2.32 crores, it offers levels of luxury in a punching class similar to some of its German and British rivals. This, like the rest of the Lexus range, is a full CBU and will be offered here in the 2018 model year. 

What’s good about it?

Well…it’s massive and has the presence of the Great Khali! And chances are that if someone is willing to spend Rs 2.30 crores on a vehicle, then it’s presence that they are looking for. Add in to the fact that the car is completely loaded up with every conceivable luxury feature for six to eight people. There’s tonnes of leather, high quality plastics and enough space within to hide an Etios Liva hatchback end-to-end.

What’s not so good about it?

It’s terribly impractical for our road conditions as it too long and too wide. But to be honest that’s not really going to be an issue as most LXs will be chauffeur-driven ensuring that there is always someone with the car when it is parked, even in a tight public space. Then there is also the fact that at this price bracket it competes against the likes of the full size Range Rover which due to being around longer has better recall value than the Lexus badge. Lastly, there is also the fact that with a 5.7-litre V8 and a petrol price hovering around Rs 85 per litre you are going to have a five digit petrol bill every time the LX570 visits the bunk for a tank up.
