Jaguar Land Rover InControl Apps launched in India

Jaguar Land Rover India has announced the launch of its innovative new smartphone integration platform, InControlApps, for the Indian market. Developed in conjunction with Bosch, the InControlApps platform transfers the interface from the phone to the in-car infotainment touch-screen, to allow users access to popular India specific apps.
The InControl system will be offered in the 2016 Model Year Discovery Sport in the HSE and HSE luxury variants. Further it will be offered with the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport as an optional extra which would have to be specified at the time of ordering the car.

In the initial round, the India specific apps include NDTV, MapmyIndia, Hungama music service and the popular food guide Zomato. In addition to this, the system includes Audiobooks, Glympse, City seeker, hotel seeker, calendar function and event seeker. The company says that with the progress of time, it will offer more apps for the system based on the demands of its car buyers. Most of the apps are free of cost while the MapmyIndia app is being offered with a minimally priced subscription package. 

The system is in essence a mobile app which means it runs off the data network on your phone which means that things will load faster if you are connected to a mobile hotspot or a 4G connection. It is compatible with iOS and Android devices where the former starts at the iPhone 5 while the latter is for devices running Android 4.04 and above. 
Commenting on the launch of the InControl App technology, Rohit Suri, president, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd, said, “InControlApps will enhance the overall luxury experience of our vehicles and provide technology savvy customers a more convenient option to access their favourite apps.  This is an exciting new technology addition to Land Rover vehicles, which have already become popular for their design, performance, craftsmanship and luxury credentials.”
