Geneva Motor Show 2019: India-bound facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLC revealed

A facelifted version of the Mercedes-Benz GLC has been unveiled ahead of the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. This 2020 model has undergone a mid-life update which includes only a few minor changes to the design of the exterior design. On the other hand, it comes with a whole host of new comfort, entertainment and drive assistance features.

The exterior updates comprise LED head lamps and chrome design elements that run from front to back. Mercedes has redesigned the rear end of the car to include new exhaust tips, bumpers as well as full LED tail lamps. Inside, there’s a new MBUX infotainment system and advanced drive assistance features including active steering assist as well as active brake assist.

However, one of the major updates is a new set of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, now offered with 48-volt electrical systems with a belt driven starter generator. This has enabled the cars to become mild-hybrids and they are now capable of performing energy recovery, boost functions.  There two petrol engines, namely the GLC 200 and GLC 300 as well as three diesel powertrains called the GLC200D, GLC220D and the GLC300D. Mercedes’4MATIC AWD is standard across the range.

The car will make its European debut after the Geneva show and will come to India within a few months. It will continue to be sold here via the local assembly method and take on the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X3 and Volvo XC40.
