BMW X7 Pick-up truck showcased as a one-off model

Breathing life into imagination, German luxury car manufacturer, BMW presents the one-off X7 pick-up at the ongoing BMW Motorrad days. The luxury seven-seat SUV has been converted into a five-seat truck with a handcrafted loading area which is finished in fine-polished wood. The alterations have been performed by BMW Group vocational trainees in cooperation with the Concept Vehicle Construction and Model Technology divisions at the BMW Munich plant.

The total length of the cargo bed spans from 55-inches (1.4 meters) to 79-inches (2.0 meters) with the rear lid open. BMW claims to have used Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites (CFRP) for some of the components on the roof, rear doors and cargo lid, thereby reducing the weight by 200 kilograms as compared to the regular X7 SUV production model.

Mechanically, the X7 pick-up continues to be powered by 340hp engine from the xDrive40i. The vehicle also gets a height-adjustable two-level air suspension. The trainees required 10 months to develop this vehicle from a concept to a fully-functional model.

Sadly, the X7 Pickup is a one-off model and it will not go into production.
