    DRIVING:
    Few thousand kilometers

After doing some research on Innova, XUV500 & Aria, I bought a TATA ARIA Pure 4x2 about a month back and have done about 2000 Kms.

    Look and Style

Aria is a big vehicle. there are few cars which can match it's size, ex: Land Rover Range Rover, Volvo XC90 V8, Toyota Land Cruiser etc...Back side of Tata aria looks better than that of it's competitors. Height of Tata Aria is similar to that of innova(20mm less) & XUV500 but it's ride is higher and overall view from the driver's position is good. C-Pillar hinders view  while driving but i think one can easily get used to it. Longer & wider than the Innova & XUV500 hence more spacious. Dashboard is designed well -uncluttered and elegant with all the necessary readings available like mileage, Trip meter and lots of warning lamps on the speedo.

Comfort: After doing several trips on & off road like dirt tracks and uneven roads, i find the car supremely comfortable even with seven adults and six kids(under 10) onboard. Bottle space in each door pocket is very useful. In the summer heat and humidity the A/C works well to keep all occupants comfortable. TATA engineers did a good job by providing A/c fan blowers on side pillars for 2nd & 3rd row seats

A few issues like noise from the A/c blower and Tailgate rattle which were present at the time of delivery were rectified in the first servicing at no cost. So far, no major issues with servicing at the dealers workshop.

Pickup for this big car weighing over 2 Tonnes is amazing. Overtaking slower vehicles on highways is quite easy but one has to press the accelerator 1-2 seconds earlier (or a little more, depending on the speed & distance of the vehicle ahead) so that the turbo sets in just when u r overtaking and you can move back to your lane well in time. Or simply downshift the gear and make sure that the engine is revving at about 1900 RPM before overtaking.

Fuel consumption of around 11.5 kmpl in city and on Highways combined would be acceptable for this car but I cannot give accurate figures as i have a habit of keeping the engine running for 5,10, even 15 mins when we stop by for refreshments, basic groceries etc. to keep all the occupants, old and young, happy.

Best Features are good ground clearance and adequately powered engine which is missing in the Innova and a little more spacious and better gearbox compared to the that of XUV500.

The front shape of XUV500 is better. Servicing is not as bad as i had heard from our long past experience of owning a Tata Sierra & Tata Estate but there is still room for improvement. TATA motors can make it better VFM vehicle to attract more buyers. But don't let it get a 'Taxi' image. Interior finish & quality of plastics could be improved further and should match those of the Innova.

Tata Motors has come a long way from the days of Tata Sierra & Estate. Aria has given good ownership experience so far.
