Truly outrageous and beautifully bold, this man’s car is loaded with gold! A Saudi tourist has brought a certain toy to play with on London streets. However, the sight has not gone down quite well with the locals who find such supercars to be nothing but nuisance.
The tourist’s toy is none other than a modified version of the Range Rover. Kitted out by German tuning house Hamann, the 'Mystere' is a £150,000 version of the famous British vehicle and was found parked outside the expensive Wellesley Hotel in Knightsbridge.
A top-spec Range Rover costs £100,000 - with Hamann charging around £50,000 for the 'Mystere' conversion.
The car's normal design has been replaced with a customised body-kit which includes oversized bumpers and a bonnet vent. The off-roader sits on 23-inch alloy wheels, emphasising its towering presence. Task achieved, as an onlooker said that a Roll-Royce Ghost which stood there was completely dwarfed by it. Our wealthy man here, probably wanted to show off his golden toy to others and hence he bought it along on his holiday.
What’s equally hard to miss, apart from the blingy golden colour, is the car’s number plate - 666. The black and gold wrap, needless to say, has caused quite a lot of discomfort to the onlooker’s eyes.
It is believed wealthy Arabs from Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia relocate to the capital in the Middle East's hottest summer months and compete over who can show off the most expensive vehicle.
Experts said insuring some of the supercars on London's roads can cost more than £50,000-a-year, with a £15,000 excess.
Another case of golden glitter was seen in London, in March, this year when a kickboxing champion decided to celebrate his win in style and got his Ferrari painted in gold. The £200,000 Ferrari 458 Spider convertible belongs to Iraqi fighter Riyadh al-Azzawi and was spotted in Kensington. It reportedly cost £4,000 to cover the supercar with gold vinyl.
