Mitsubishi finally launched the new Outlander in India as a rival to the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the recently launched Skoda Kodiaq. The third-gen Outlander has been on sale internationally since 2015.
The 2016 model year update of the Outlander debuted the new “Dynamic Shield” design philosophy that will be seen on all the future vehicles from the Japanese carmaker. The off-roader is a lot sharper and aerodynamic as compared to the older model. According to Mitsubishi, the prominent chrome-laden grille is aerodynamic which reduces the drag coefficient by seven per cent. The revised headlights are now sharper and include LED DRLs with the option of full LED headlamps. The revised headlights feature a full-LED setup with LED DRLs
On the insides, Mitsubishi has added a bit more refinement to the cabin. The Outlander is laden with features like leather upholstery, dual zone climate control, electrically powered seat with heating and height adjustment, seatbelt pre-tensioners, ISOFIX, a 6.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with 710W Rockford Fosgate Premium sound system, push button start, rain sensing wipers, and electric sunroof. The SUV packs seven airbags, ABS with EBD, active stability control (ASC), hill start assist (HSA) and auto headlamps as a standard fitment.
Under the hood, there is only one petrol engine on offer at the moment. The 2.4-litre, four-cylinder engine generates 164bhp of power and 222Nm of torque. The gasoline engine comes mated to a six-speed CVT automatic which powers all four wheels.
The return of the Outlander with a fresh appeal could help the Mitsubishi garner some positive sales figures in the country.
