Mercedes-Benz B-Class Review
The Mercedes-Benz B-Class was the first MFA underpinned car to be launched in the Indian market in late 2012. It is now the first model among the MFA clan to get an update in 2015. Most of the changes to the B-Class are cosmetic but also include a nomenclature change.
The B-Class facelift on the outside gets a redesigned bumper, updated grille and additional full-LED headlamps which are expected to be available throughout the range except for the Europe only electric drive version. The side profile remains the same as before but is now likely to appear a little sportier thanks to an expanded range of wheel options. At the back MB has fitted the facelifted B-Class with LED tail lamps, reworked bumper and new trapezoid exhaust tips.
The interior has been largely carried over from the current car but now includes a revised steering wheel (taken from the C-Class), updated dials, 12 colour ambient light system, reverse camera, armrest with USB interface, sunroof and updates for the COMAND system as well as a larger screen also. Mercedes-Benz is also offering a Garmin Plug and Play Sat Nav as an optional accessory.
Engine and Gearbox
The facelifted B-Class continues with the existing setup which means the petrol unit is the 1.6-litre mill that produces 120bhp and 200Nm of torque. The diesel is a 2.2-litre mill which is now offered in the B200 CDI version where its four-cylinder mill produces 136bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both engines are only offered with a seven-speed DCT.
The car competes with the Audi A3 sedan.
