0 - Driven by passionThe Volkswagen Polo was the hatch that stood apart with Volkswagen's robust engineering and high quality. No wonder the first-generation Polo, with its name derived from 'Polar winds', which followed VW's tradition of naming their cars after winds, was a rebadged Audi 500. On the highways, the Polo feels planted, confident, and rock-solid, even at high triple-digit speeds courtesy of the fantastic 1.0 TSi engine and its punchy performance. The car feels solid and built to last. In terms of maintenance also, after almost 6 years and 40K kms, the Polo has been surprisingly easy on the pocket till date. Spares do cost a bit more than your average Maruti, but the quality and longevity more than make up for it. The Polo is a valid reminder of what German engineering feels like. The Polo complements the Jimny in my garage. Cars with opposite characters, but both are solid fun in their own ways. Every single time I turn the key of the Polo, the car-crazy version of me still jumps in excitement. That’s what the Polo does to you.
