Ford India will launch the Endeavour facelift in India on 22 February. The full-size SUV will receive subtle cosmetic changes along with a rejigged variant line-up with the update. Bookings for the updated Endeavour have already commenced at selective dealerships with a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.
Appearance wise, the Endeavour gets redesigned headlamps with restyled LED day-time-running lights. The honeycomb mesh grille has been slightly revised along with a new fog lamp surround and body cladding. A newly designed alloy wheel will also be a part of the update. On the inside, the layout will remain unchanged except for a switch to beige-black interiors from the beige-brown combination that marked the older model. Moreover, there will be new features on the list such as push-button start as standard, smart boot opening system, electric sunroof, parking sensors with camera, power seats, power mirrors, et al. The infotainment system will be upgraded to Ford SYNC 3.
Under the hood, the Endeavour will continue to be powered by the same two diesel engine options. The 2.2-litre four-cylinder engine generates 157bhp of power and 385Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 3.2-litre, five-cylinder engine generates 196bhp and 470Nm. Both engines are available with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. With the facelift, the smaller engine is expected to be offered with an optional manual transmission as well. The bigger engine, on the other hand, will continue to be offered with AWD option.
In the Thailand market, the updated Endeavour comes with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel of the new Panther engine family. This engine comes in turbo and twin-turbo guise, thus producing 180hp/420Nm and 213hp/500Nm respectively, and mated to either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission. This new engine is more powerful yet more fuel efficient than the 2.2-litre engine which powers the Indian-spec model. Ford India is not likely to introduce this new engine in the country.
The competition against Ford Endeavour has gotten serious with the introduction of the facelifted Isuzu MU-X, and the Mahindra Alturas G4 besides the usual contenders like Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. The pricing for the new Endeavour will remain on par with the older model.
