Ultra-luxury car manufacturer, Bentley, will celebrate its 100th anniversary with the global unveiling of the all-new, third-generation Flying Spur on 11 June. Interestingly, this will be the first Bentley to feature all-wheel steering enhancing both stability at cruising speeds and agility around town. In standard road conditions, power is supplied to the rear wheels to offer classic sports sedan handling characteristics. Reportedly, if any slip is detected, the system automatically activates the front wheels, thereby providing an active all-wheel drive for traction.
The company claims that during high-speed manoeuvres, the electronic system steers the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels, making overtaking and lane-changes more controllable. All-wheel steering also means no compromise between high-speed confidence and low-speed convenience. The Bentley Dynamic Ride offers improved handling and ride comfort. The system changes suspension stiffness on demand to combat cornering forces and minimise body roll that might otherwise disturb occupants.
Like the recently launched Bentley Continental GT, the all-new Bentley Flying Spur is a ground-up development that pushes the boundaries of both technology and craftsmanship to deliver segment-defining levels of performance and refinement.
