The Datsun Go and the Go+ with a CVT will be unveiled in India tomorrow. The automatic variants of the Go and the Go+ are slated for India launch in October. Interestingly, Datsun will be the first car manufacturer to offer an optional CVT in this segment, while most of its competitors offer an AMT option. It is believed that that the Go+ with a CVT will provide that additional advantage over its new competitor, the Renault Triber, which is currently limited to a manual transmission.
Under the hood, the Go siblings will continue to be powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67bhp at 5,000rpm and 104Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Visually, the CVT version is expected to get a distinctive badge along with a few other minor cosmetic tweaks to distinguish it from the variant with a manual transmission.
Datsun had introduced the facelift version of the Go and the Go+ in October 2018 and the CVT variant will be based on the updated models. More details on the automatic variant of the Go and the Go+ will be known on our first-drive review tomorrow.
