Korean auto-major Hyundai has showcased the all new Santa Fe in New York, surprising the world audience by exhibiting the Sport along with the existing Santa Fe. With the solid Fluidic design style, engine options and some interesting tech, Hyundai has managed to pull a fast one over its competitors.

The two-row, five-seater Sport base model has a 2.4 litre inline-four churning 190 bhp while the 2.0 litre turbocharged version delivers around 265 horses. The three-row seven-seater houses a powerful 3.3 litre DI V6 transmitting 290 horses to the wheels. Transmission options are limited to the in-house 6-speed automatic while all engines can be mated to the optional All Wheel Drive. 

The top end Santa Fe comes with the Torque-Vectoring cornering control system, the technology that Hyundai thinks would set the Santa Fe apart from the competition. While the enthusiast buyer would prefer the Sport, the average demographic customer looking for a spacious comfortable ride with family would go for seven seater. The wheelbase is extended over the Sport to create about 38 cu.m. of extra space for the third row. New and updated interiors with latest Stability and Navigation functions make this car truly modern.

Hyundai will be looking forward to get the Fluidic Santa Fe to India as soon as possible after the warm welcome to the existing Santa Fe and the runaway success of the Fluidic models like the i10 and the Verna.

The order booking for the Etios continues to be high with 29796 bookings received so far. The company has been able to stream line the deliveries of the Etios and has been successful in delivering the cars as fast as possible. The Liva being next in line, Toyota will be looking at crossing the 10,000 units a month sales figure soon.

Commenting on the sales for the year 2010, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director-Marketing, TKM said, “We are very happy with the response we have received from our customers in 2010. This year has witnessed the most important launch in the history of Toyota in India – The launch of Etios and the unveiling of the hatchback Liva. The first batch of Etios – more than 400 units - have already been dispatched to the dealerships and we have begun delivering vehicles to the customers. The vehicles are on display at most of our dealerships."

The corporate edition of the BMW X1 will miss out all the bells and whistles which include sunroof and CD-changer. The car will get only a single in-dash music system. The wooden bits also go missing on the Corporate Edition. The BMW X1 like the other BMWs will be a rear wheel drive.  The high-end diesel variant will get brown and black leather upholstery while the petrol and the other diesel variant will come in beige or black upholstery.

The diesel engine delivers 177bhp and a torque of 350 Nm@1750 to 3000 rpm. The petrol engine gives 150bhp with a torque of 200 Nm@3600 rpm. While safety features have not being compromised on in the X1, the petrol variant will not get a USB interface and Bluetooth connectivity. Features like the Rain sensor and Xenon lights find its way only in the top-end model. The X1 will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Nissan X-Trail , Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevrolet Captiva and the Mitsubishi Outlander.

The price hike does seem to be across the board when it comes to car manufacturers in India. We will hopefully notice a wave of change in the sales of these cars. But then again lets hope for the best.

The Toyota Fortuner was launched on August 24, 2009. The Anniversary Edition of the Fortuner has an enhanced sporty exterior that will be available only in Pearl White colour. The car has some additional features like a new front bumper spoiler, a rear roof spoiler and  a rear bumper spoiler all in body colour, and a chrome plated muffler cutter giving it a distinct touch. The Fortuner Anniversary Edition has been priced at Rs. 20,45,000 ex-showroom Delhi.

The company will roll out only 250 units of this special edition of the Fortuner to commemorate the occasion. Commenting on the introduction of the ‘Anniversary Edition’, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director-Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "Today, as we celebrate both the first anniversary and the milestone of selling 10,000 units, we are delighted to introduce the Anniversary Edition of the Fortuner which will be made available exclusively to our customers who have already made bookings with us."

He added saying that, "We would like to thank our customers for making the Fortuner the market leader in its segment, since its launch."
