I purchased the Toyota Rumion S CNG in February 2025. I have driven it for 17,000 km across city traffic, highways, and work-related usage. Mileage is the biggest positive. First 15,000 km: ~20 km/kg in city traffic and ~23 km/kg on highways. After 15,000 km: ~23 km/kg in city traffic and ~31 km/kg on highways. The interior is genuinely spacious. Seating for seven adults is comfortable. Both the second and third rows fold down easily, converting the vehicle into a capable cargo hauler. Being in the construction business, this flexibility adds direct business value. It effectively serves dual roles—family vehicle and goods transporter. There is a common narrative around CNG vehicles lacking power. I did feel this during the first 10,000 km. However, post that I felt engine was powerful and overtakes and maneuvering was easy. The instrument cluster is frankly disappointing as it provides minimal, low-value information and fails to deliver meaningful driving data. The gear shift indicator does more harm than good. Following it strictly results in underpowered driving and reduced mileage. Based on actual driving experience, the optimal approach is to m aintain ~2000 RPM and upshift around 2400 RPM and downshift below 1500 RPM. Ignoring the indicator entirely delivers better performance and efficiency.

The air conditioning is effective with dedicated rear vents to keep all occupants comfortable. Upper variants have equipment such as automatic climate control, dual-tone interiors, and steering-mounted controls. Safety has also been enhanced with six airbags now available as standard on all versions, making it one of the safest MPVs in its class. On the move, the Rumion offers a smooth and composed ride around town and short motorway journeys. When loaded to the gunwales, though, the engine is slightly strained and the third-row seating and boot space not as great. Because it's mostly a rebadged Ertiga, some may find it lacking in uniqueness or premium experience for the additional cost Toyota puts on it. It compensates though with Toyota's reliability, improved service network, and ownership peace of mind. Overall, the Toyota Rumion is a practical and dependable family car. It's low on fuel, easy to drive, and comes with all the necessary features. It may not be the most powerful and luxurious 7-seater, but for those families that need comfort, low maintenance, and high resale value, the Rumion is a very sound option in its class.
