Best Performance But Less value for moneyThe Volkswagen Taigun is a fun car to drive, especially because of its strong engine and solid performance. Acceleration feels quick, and the car remains stable on highways, which makes long drives enjoyable. However, the interior feels average when compared to competitors. The design is fine, but the quality and features don’t fully justify the price. Maintenance is a weak point. Ownership can get expensive, and in my case, the car touched the ground due to low clearance, leading to a huge repair cost of nearly ₹4 lakhs. This is worrying for Indian road conditions. The service centre experience is average — work gets done, but customer handling and support could be better. Break disc problemsI purchased a Taigun 1.0 Highline about a year ago. From the early days of ownership, I noticed a noise while applying the brake. I reported this issue to the service centre on two occasions, but each time I was told that it was a common problem with this vehicle. At the time of the first service, after about 13,000 km, the service centre advised me to replace both the brake discs and brake pads at a cost of around ₹12,000. I strongly objected and demanded company support. After considerable follow-up and pressure, they finally agreed to replace the brake discs and pads by compensating about 90% of the cost. In contrast, I previously owned a Maruti Swift, which I drove for nearly 1,20,000 km without needing to replace the brake discs even once. Although Volkswagen eventually addressed the issue, the entire process significantly affected my peace of mind as an owner. In short, while the vehicle performs well in terms of safety and driving comfort—especially on highways—I have serious concerns about its long-term reliability.Rating Parameters(Out of 5)5Design and Styling
